Located on 66 acres of rolling farmland and wooded countryside, this restored, 19th century log cabin is rustic but not the least bit primitive. A massive stone fireplace makes relaxing in the winter cozy. Enjoy your morning coffee along with a beautiful view of Ohio farmland from the screened-in porch. Jump into the outdoor shower or hot tub after a day of hiking or shopping in nearby Yellow Springs. Centrally located, the Cabin is just 20 minutes from Dayton and 50 minutes from Columbus.
The space
This 19th century log cabin - original to the property - was dismantled and restored in 1989. Various updates over the years keep the Cabin fresh without compromising its rustic qualities.
Guest access
The Cabin is located on a working farm. Guests may walk the property, enjoy the hot tub located a few yards from the Cabin and fish in the catch-and-release pond. There is a charcoal grill and charcoal provided for outside cooking, an outdoor shower, and a fire pit nearby is a fun place to roast marshmallows and tell stories.
Two bicycles on site are available for guests who want to ride the Ohio to Erie bike trail, which is just a mile from the farm entrance.
Other things to note
The Cabin is a homey, comfortable place — nothing fussy, nothing untouchable. We expect you to put your feet up, take a deep breath and relax while you’re there.

My work: Museum educator
Speaks English
I restored Green Plains Cabin in 1989 and raised my two boys there on the farm. In 2000, I began opening the cabin to guests. Recently, my husband, Glen, and I have set about reclaiming and improving the land around the cabin for crops and livestock we raise hay and American Bison. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Art History, a Master’s degree in Museum Education and a Master’s in Business. I have enjoyed several careers and continue to enjoy hosting guests at the cabin and working on the farm with Glen.
