About this listing
Welcoming and relaxed family home nestled within the picturesque Wicklow mountains at the foot of a large hillfort . Surrounded by historical sites and beautiful landscaped and atmospheric gardens. Ideal for walkers or cyclists.
As an enthusiastic hill-walker I feel our home is the perfect respite for like-minded outdoor enthusiasts who wish to explore the hills and walking routes in West Wicklow or for those who just want to get away from the modern hectic lifestyle. I look forward to offering all the comforts of home to you. As a walker I understand your need for a utility-room where you can dry your gear over-night; a hot shower to ease those aching muscles and a comfy sofa to collapse in with a cup of tea and plan the next day’s route inspired by the breathtaking views of lugnaquilla and kaedeen from my living-room. The house is situated at the foot of Brusselstown ring one of the largest hillforts in Ireland and the U.K. A guided walk to the ringfort can be organised on request this of course would have to be prearranged. This fort dates back to the late Bronze age 3000 years ago. I want you to leave my home in the morning feeling rested and relaxed in order to enjoy this spectacular undiscovered part of beautiful county Wicklow. Our price of 60 euro is for one double room, up to two people sharing. This is a peaceful haven to get away from it all. If you love walking then this is the spot for you. Surrounded by walks from easy strolls to difficult hikes. A perfect place to experience the magic of Co. Wicklow.
Our home is a large family home with wonderful landscaped gardens and outdoor spaces in which to relax. Similarly, the living room is a tranquil space with a wood-burning stove for those chilly evenings. There is free WiFi available throughout. At the heart of the house is a big comfy country-kitchen with family and friends coming and going. My guests are welcome to join in and avail of all the local knowledge they’ll be offered. (I’ll be very happy to help you plan realistic routes based on your abilities).
Breakfast, provided by me, is a healthy cereal or porridge, home-made breads and fresh eggs from my neighbour’s chickens and maybe a NutriBullet power shake to set you up for your day’s walk
I have two guest rooms en-suite: a double and single bed in the first room and a double bed in the second room. I also have a single bedroom with the use of the main bathroom. I look forward to welcoming groups or single explorers to beautiful West Wicklow. If evening meal is required I can usually prepare a nourishing meal at fairly short notice.
Interaction with guests
We welcome you into the heart of our family. We will be around to answer all your questions.
Situated in the heart of the Glen of Imaal only 10 minutes drive to the N81, between Blessington and Baltinglass. You can pick up any provisions you may need or eat out in the area. My home is truly rural. A car is therefore advisable.
Locally, there is a brilliant pub in Castleruddery where you can pick up a pizza and a beer.
Bicycles can be hired at a reasonable rate. This would have to be requested on booking.
We would appreciate you not smoking within the house.
