I have been hosting for over 3 years now and enjoy having guests come and stay. My flat is ideal for short or long stays, tourists or business people. The flexible nature of the bedroom also means I can host singles, couples, families or friends.
This is a very clean single/twin/double room in 3 bedroom maisonette (duplex) in a very vibrant and arty neighbourhood. The ground floor is made up of the kitchen/diner and open plan living room. Bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. The apartment is very warm and light and airy with a great view towards the city and west end. The entire apartment was re-modelled five years ago so everything is new and in good working order!
Well equipped with comfortable bed (with pull-out for second guest), clean bedding and warm duvet. The room can be configured for a single guest, two sharing or a couple. Lots of drawers and hanging space in the wardrobe for your things. Bedside table with reading light and DAB radio/alarm.
***Bedroom redecorated in Nov 2014***
Three piece suite shared with owner. Power shower and bath, and a never-ending supply of hot water for a long soak after a hard day’s sightseeing.
You can help yourself to all the facilities in the fully equipped kitchen. Large fridge-freezer, gas stove and electric oven, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. Washing machine available (no charge) for guests staying 5 days or longer (or £3 per wash otherwise).

Interaction with Guests
I am out a lot but happy to sit and chat if we happen to be in the apartment at the same time. However, if you have any questions at all please do ask and I will do my best to answer them.
Camberwell, Peckham and East Dulwich are lovely areas with lots of great bars, cafes, restaurants and shopping. The apartment is next door to the South London Art Gallery and Café 67 which does some of the best breakfasts in London. A short walk away is leafy East Dulwich with a good assortment of shops and bars.
Great transport connections to Central London (Zone 2):
South Bank (Tate Modern, London Eye) - 20 mins
Westminster (Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey) - 25 mins
West End (Soho, Theatre District. Shopping etc) - 30 mins
Greenwich (River, Maritime Museum) - 20 mins
Buses: 5 different buses all stop right outside the flat, 3 of these run 24 hours a day. See TFL website for details.
Tube: Oval (Northern Line), Elephant & Castle (Northern and Bakerloo Lines) and Vauxhall (Victoria Line) all within 15 min bus ride.
Trains: Overground and Suburban Services from Peckham Rye (10 mins walk).
Other Things to Note
This room would especially suit out-of-town Mon-Fri commuter looking for an alternative to Travel Lodge etc.
No smoking in the flat but you may on the balcony.
You may have visitors over (not overnight), but please ask me first.
Please secure the front door by double-locking it with the key to fully engage all locking bolts. This should be done on entering and exiting the flat.
Please do not eat in the lounge, there is a large dining table in the open plan kitchen and you can see the TV from there anyway!
Lower kitchen window blinds when going out (security).
Please leave shoes by the front door, the flat is very warm and stocking or bare feet are ok.
That's it - enjoy!
This is my first outing with airbnb and I couldn't have got off to a better start. I would definitely recommend him and stay there again.
Stayed the 2nd time at Mike's place and again he has been very helpful : I got several mails on suspended bus stops or changes in the itinerary before my departure.
He couldn't be there on arrival but I could collect the key form a neighbour.
Above all : it was a horrendous weekend for the Chunnel (fire and electricity failures) and he spontaneously informed me about the updates until the morning I had to leave.
Accommodation has been refreshed, always clean towels and linen (without the nasty smell you've got in hotels).
Mike himself : no fuss whatsoever, very laid back and a pleasure to stay with.
If your stay is based on mutual respect you'll go a long way.
Mike is a trustful and helpful person. Everything was clear so that I can find my way to his home easily. The flat was nice, clean, and the bedroom very comfortable. And you can reach central London quite quickly by bus. Everything just as expected. I really recommend Mike's place.
Five star airbnb experience. Communication was perfect. Mike responded super fast to my questions, which allowed me to get the room just the previous day. The house and area are exactly as described. This is a modern duplex apartment, which Mike keeps impeccable. Nice room and bed. Very warm house, which in London's winter is definitely a plus. Fast wifi. The cafe next door at the art gallery is great, and there's another one just in front which is also quite nice. My only concern was not having direct metro, but there are plenty of buses at the door which will take you to any part of the centre, or to a metro station. I ended up enjoying my bus rides. All in all, a great place and a great host.
Mike was a great host, super helpful. The flat was exactly as described clean and tidy!
Property was nice and clean and certainly more affordable than a hotel for two weeks. It's far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle of central London but a quick and easy bus ride for my 6am commute to Oxford Circus. Mike was very helpful at providing directions for getting to the flat and how to get to my place of work.
Really enjoyed my Stay at Mikes place, highly advised for singles who are traveling for business or pleasure, a very central area with easy access to Zone 1. All facilities are available at Mikes place from washing machine to ironing board making my stay both enjoyable and convenient, All in all would highly recommend Mikes place as a platform to enjoy London.

I'm a long-time resident of London having relocated from the north west of the country after university.
I have lived in and around Camberwell for more than 25 years.
I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my (extensive) knowledge of London (touristy and off-beat).
I look forward to having you come stay.
