Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
Comfortable antique cabin in the countryside. One bedroom with twin beds, and loft with full mattress accessed by ladder. Bath with shower and kitchenette with micro, fridge, stove, toaster and coffee maker. In ground swimming pool. Rear porch and yard look out on pastureland with cattle, goats, poultry, and sometime the horse. Pond fishing available. Convenient to I-20. Cabin is over 150 years old and rustic. It is very small, but has what you need. Small Roku TV and Comcast internet.

The space
This cabin was, at one time, the commissary on the plantation. A small front porch has been added as well as a little screened porch on the back.
The main house on the property was built in 1856, and the cabin was likely older, dating to the 1830s. Although made livable by the current owners with bath and kitchen, it is in pretty much original condition. The ceilings are quite low, so the cabin my not suit a tall person. The overall cabin dimensions are less than 400 square feet, so it is a “tiny house”. Again, it is rustic. Think “bunkhouse”. There is a small Roku TV.
The loft is open to the main area on one end, and, although provided with a fan, which pulls in some cooler air, the loft can be rather warm on very sunny midsummer days.
Basic cookware and dishes are provided, as well as farm fresh eggs from pastured flock as available.
If you are looking for authentic, this is it. The little cabin is clean and comfortable.
Note: A wee screened porch overlooks the pasture where the dairy goats, and, sometimes, our horse graze. The chickens also roam this pasture in the daylight hours. There are cattle in the larger pastures.
There is a fire pit in front of the cabin that guests may use for an evening campfire and to roast marshmallows. We keep a supply of wood on hand.
Please take note that, due to the age of the cabin, the ceilings in the rear portion of the cabin, as well as the doorway to the screened porch are rather low. Taller folks need to take care.

Important: There are no added “cleaning fees” . Airbnb does add a service charge, and collects the occupancy taxes, but we have no added charges.
The cabin will comfortably accommodate up to three guests, if one is able and willing to climb the wall ladder to the loft. If there will be more than three persons in your party, you must clear this with the owners prior to booking.
Also, we can allow no “ pool parties or celebrations” with outside guests.
Fishing is permitted in the ponds in the property, but the fishermen must bring their own gear and bait. It is a bit of a hike to the best pond, but maybe worth it.

Guest access
The cabin sits directly behind the main house.
When you arrive, please drive around to the left of the main house, and park at the arbor. There are usually some children’s little scooters parked here.
Take the stone walk across the back yard to the cabin.

Other things to note
You will find fresh eggs from our pastured flock in the refrigerator when you arrive. We try to put a few provisions such as butter, milk, and coffee, as well. There books and periodicals available.
Swim at your own risk, and please watch children in the pool. You must let me know ahead of time if there will be more than three guests in your party. Please do not book until you have cleared this with the owner.
Fishing in the ponds on the property is permitted—bream, bass and catfish.

Retired RN. Currently farm a small-holding with dairy goats, Zebu cattle, chickens. Sometimes there is a horse in the pasture as well. There are three adult Great Danes on the property, and occasionally puppies. Married to the same guy for 55 years, and have five grown children and fifteen grandchildren. Have antique business. Iditarod fan, and love to travel to Anchorage for the start, and Nome for the finish. Enjoy water sports, too. Love arts and crafts, but am seriously handicapped by a profound lack of originality and talent. Stay busy in the garden growing flowers, vegetables and fruit.
