About this listing
This is our 100+ year old shotgun bungalow located in the historic and vibrant Volker neighborhood. We called this home for better than 10 years. During that time, we completely renovated it, while keeping the historic charm. Two kids later..... we're now offering it to you.
You get the place all to yourself. No noise annoyances above, or below. Just a nice, quiet, and peaceful home to call your own.
The home has one bedroom with a Queen size bed, as well as a sleeper couch in the front room/library. Ideal for 2. Happy to accept up to 4.
The home has all the amenities of a fully functioning place. Including Wifi, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Pandora, (no cable). A full size washer and dryer. A library of books and movies. A bicycle, helmet, and lock. Even a sewing machine.
There's no shortage of things to do nearby, many within walking distance.

We just love the midtown energy. Hope you will too
I don't want to be honest about how great this house was, because I'm afraid I'll never be able to get another reservation if I tell the world how terrific it is!!! Julian and Susan were friendly but unintrusive hosts and the house is extremely well equipped and CLEAN! We loved the layout, too- the additional living area near the kitchen meant that the person on the pullout couch basically had a private bedroom. I especially loved the REAL coffee and REAL coffee pot and the lovely deck to enjoy it on! Parking also was really easy and convenient. All in all, a great home away from home!
Jullian was very quick to respond to all requests. We had a great time in his sweet guest house!
Thank you so much for your hospitality--everything was wonderful! We loved both the neighborhood and the rental. The house had a ton of character and was still extremely comfortable (the two don't always go together). Kitchen was well-stocked, bathroom was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in and check-out were also a breeze. The neighborhood was quiet, but the house is just a few (very walkable) blocks to 39th St., with great options for food and drink, as well as a few shops. Great stay overall!
The description and pictures of the place was very accurate, it actually was better in person. The house was separate from the owners house, which was nice, especially when you have stayed somewhere with noisy neighbors all around. The neighborhood was mixed with a new, renewed, rundown, and old kind of feeling. We weren't familiar with the neighborhood, but we felt absolutely safe and comfortable. We walked around the neighborhood a lot, and had no issues, or uncomfortableness . We do wish the place had a king bed to make it perfect, but it was a great place, and we recommend it to everyone. It was a great location, privacy, and quiet. It was a cute little house in kanasas.
Susan and Julian's home was very nice and exactly as pictured and described. It was close to many places in Westport and the plaza area. We had 4 guests and the pull out sofa was comfortable. We highly recommend this listing.
What a gem of a place! The pictures are spot on, but they don't capture the feel of nostalgia mixed with modern touches, and the homey warmth that awaits. The neighborhood is a cool, eclectic area that's located close to all the must sees and to do lists while visiting KC. We'd mentioned wanting to hear some Blues music while in town, and Susan greeted us with two local guides that fit the bill. They live next door and knew that we could reach out if needed, otherwise they let us have our own experiences. It was a short visit this time around, but we plan on coming back. First up on our agenda will be to see if Susan and Julian's place is available. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Clean, cute house! Everything is as advertised and it was nice to have our own private space. The house is in an area conveniently located for shopping, dining etc; Susan and Julian were great hosts! We would stay again.
About the Host, Susan And Julian
I'm a native Kansas Citian, and have lived on this block 24 years. My wife came here from central Illinois via University of Iowa. We both love the eclectic lifestyle that midtown Kansas City has to offer.
I'm a residential rehabber, industrial artisan, and idiot savant. A fancy way of saying, I can fix almost anything. And is the real reason my wife married me......
My wife. The brains of our family. Works for Scripps Digital, is the mother of our two wonderful children, and an accomplished violinist. You might even catch her playing locally. Better yet, bring an instrument with you.
