The Space

This is a private apartment so the whole space is yours.

I believe strongly in maintaing the upmost cleanliness with a cleaning lady coming in between each and every visiting guests. Fresh linens and towels always included.

Apartment includes:

-Bedroom with:
-Queen bed (accomodates 2 people)
-Convertible couch (about a full size--accomodates 2 small people or 1 big)
-Closet with hangers
-Dresser
(I keep them empty so you can store your clothing)

A small living area between the bedroom and the kitchen with a dining table.

A fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee machine, plates, silverware, cups, wine glasses, mugs, and more.

A full bathroom with shower.

NOTE: This apartment is on the 5th floor (4 flights of stairs). Good exercise but not for the faint heart.

  • The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The place it self is very clean and had an air conditioner unit that was very nice.

    Response from Jamal:

Due to an accidentally activating the Instant Booking feature on the
website, a reservation was booked for dates that I already had a confirmed
booking. Wanting to uphold my integrity and my commitment to the guest that I had confirmed, I had to cancel this reservation.

  • Jamals place is in a great location. Walking distance to Times Square, broadway, Rockefeller, Central Park and the rest. The studio is a comfortable size for two people, any more and it would be too small. The stairs are definitely a challenge, we knew about them before booking and lucky we are young and mobile. Outside of that our stay was good, cleanliness of the room could have been improved a bit also. Thanks again Jamal.

  • My stay was enjoyable and the place was fine, but this was far from my best airbnb experience. I think a lot can be chalked up to the airbnb poster not being the apartment owner, and the apartment being one in a group of apartments that gets rented out and managed by a group.

Even though I knew (and conveyed) from the time I requested a booking that I would be getting in late, I was not told about the $25 late checkin fee until the day before. Worse, this fee is to be paid in cash, not through airbnb, so I don't have a receipt by which to get reimbursed (this was a business trip).

My arrival did not go smoothly; I called the number I was given, which dialed a forwarding service. This forwarding service could not successfully connect me with the person I needed; I ended up getting to an acquaintance of his who was able to share his direct cell number.

The apartment itself was ok...not as clean as I would have liked. There was mold in the shower that could have easily been scrubbed, and the shower drain didn't work properly.

Location was good, near many great restaurants and in a vibrant neighborhood.

  • This is Flaco, I was in NYC for a soccer tournament and my stay here was great I must say. It was the perfect location to be at as the local bars were just down the street and so was the subway... I may be in shape but the stairs do get ya, great cardio! I wouldn't mind staying there again if ever in NYC again!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Jamal's apartment for 9 days. It was great. Perfect location. Just 1 block walk to subway, a little amish market with almost all you need and lots of attractions really close (Times square, rockefeller center, Lincoln center, etc). Jamal was very responsive and concerned about our stay there specially when our flight was delayed and we had to chack in really late.
The only cons would be the gas not working and all the noises from the plumbing but if you are all day walking up and down manhattan you would probably sleep with no problems like we did.

  • The apartment was very clean and just like in the pictures, just what we needed. The only thing not working was the gas in the apartment due to a some work going on in the building. I would recommend the apartment to anybody and I would stay there again.

About
I was raised in New York and currently travel for work. While I'm away I host on Airbnb. My passion is being a professional hairstylist, and take great pride in my craft. I love the unique people I meet along the way, the stories I hear, and the relationships I have built. I am truly lucky to be doing what I love and having so much fun in the process. NYC is such an amazing city, but living here truly gives you a unique experience. I enjoy so much of what this great city has to offer, from reading a book in beautiful Central Park, to bike riding along the East Side River which is such a breath taking view. My favorite time of year however is December and seeing the tree lighting in Rockefeller Center. I have been going there since I was 8 years old, and every year the tree looks as big as ever. I usually fall down at least once a year at the ice rink too! I aim to give you the true NYC experience by hosting you in my apartment, and I am always more than happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you might have. Hope to see you soon!
