About this listing
PLEASE, before any inquiries, CHECK WITH THE CALENDAR AND READ THE DESCRIPTION. It will answer most of your questions. The calendar is always updated, so if the day is marked gray, it is not available. Instead, tell us a little bit about yourself and the upcoming trip
We are in love with our home and ready to share our love with you. It is a three bedroom apartment occupied by my husband and I along with our baby boy. Marble floors make your steps silent, 18 feet of windows drench our living room with sun and balcony is perfect for a morning cup of coffee with fresh air. Building has elevator equipped with security cameras and there is a buzzer downstairs for our protection.
Recently we installed a climate control system in every room so you can enjoy convenient AC in summer and heat in winter.
Room fits two (full size bed) plus you have access to the whole apartment. The room is pretty small (77sq ft) but very cosy and well organized. It is balanced with a spacious living room where you are welcome at any time to get together and hang out.
We share everything with our guests. Bathroom is next door to your room along with the kitchen which you are free to use. You will have access to the living room with 60" TV, Time Warner cable, XBox, dinner table, balcony and what not (if the city itself is not entertaining enough).
Interaction with Guests
I'm currently a part-time student and full time mom. School takes my evenings and the rest of the time I dedicate to my family. My task is to make sure everything is nice and clean, so you are pleased with your stay. I'm also an outdoor person and like to take my baby for long walks so if you are interested, I can show you around the city one day. Or I can just help you plan your trip.
In general, we leave tired travelers in peace. We always ready to interact with our guests but it is up to you weather you want to enjoy the comfort of the room or to share a talk or two.
We have a lot of friends and since we live in the middle of everything, they like to hang out here sometimes. Don't hesitate to join us in the living room for a movie or a game of cards if it pleases you. You can also totally ignore us and stay in the room. We respect your privacy. Normally by 11 pm everybody leaves and at midnight we are fast asleep.
We are lucky to live in a great neighborhood. We are located between Williamsburg and Manhattan bridges, close to all tourists attractions so you won't even need to take a train to see the city's best. It is a forty minute walk to Times Square, thirty minute walk to Herald Square, twenty minute
walk to Brooklyn Bridge, 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty Ferry and five minutes away from SoHo with tons of shops and boutiques (shopaholics - stay away!). You will never need to go back to the same place to eat, because this area is loaded with restaurants, bars and clubs. This is the part of city where New York's history started, glorious and famous. This is the place where you will feel a real New York atmosphere.
They say New York is the city that never sleeps so don't miss it's nightlife. It's happening just a couple blocks away. On Friday and Saturday you can be bar hopping all night and not even leave the neighborhood. There are places to dance as well. Just go out and feel the transformation.
P.S. I spent some time to add a Guidebook to my profile so don't forget to check it out for some suggestions. I hope it will help you to plan your visit.
The best way to feel the city vibe is to walk around but if you prefer the convenience of public transportation, you got it! B and D trains are two blocks away and F, J, M trains are three blocks away. They will take you anywhere in a flash. City Sightseeing buses stop across the street and will take you everywhere around the island, as well as public local and express buses. And don't forget City Bike stations, last years innovation (my favorite)!
If you are coming from JFK airport I would recommend that you take the Airtrain to Jamaica station and then the J train to Essex street station which is three blocks away from us. This trip will take you about an hour and a half and will cost you less then 10 dollars. It's not as fast as a shuttle bus or cab but definitely cheaper. And the best thing about this trip is that the train goes above ground so you will have a view of the outside with a chance to see the Statue of Liberty as well as the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges when crossing the Williamsburg bridge.
If you are coming from New Ark Airport, use Airtrain to get to the City and then B, D, F or M from Penn Station to Grand street station or Essex street.
Other Things to Note
You will be provided with hairdryer, towels, shampoos, soap, body wash, blankets, umbrella and everything else you may need for a comfortable stay. I also have a Pay-and-Go phone so international guests can use it during their stay.
We don't set any check out time. Stay as long as it's convenient for you. If on your departure day next guests arrive, we will ask you to move your baggage to the living room a couple hours before their arrival to give me time to prepare the room. Every situation is unique so we will work it out using common sense to make everyone comfortable.
Main rule - shoes off! There's enough slush outside, lets not bring it in). Your room is 100% yours so you can wear outside shoes in there if you wish. As for the rest of the apartment, we have plenty of flip flops of all sizes and colors.
For the rest it is all just common sense: treat our home as you would like your home to be treated.
Don't worry about coming in late. We sleep well, as well as the baby so we won't be bothered (unless the door is slammed which hasn't happened yet anyway).
From Sep 3 - 29, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
Yanina & Daniel are great hosts - really welcoming and considerate. Although the flat is small (as I guess most downtown NY apartments are) it has everything you need and is quiet and in a good location. Only a couple of blocks to the subway in one direction and China town in the other.
Staying at Yanina's and Daniel's was great. Although the room is not very big we appreciated that they put a lot of thought into arranging it (storage space under the bed, dimmable lighting, outlets right next to the bed, etc). Everything was very clean and childproof, which was very convenient as we were travelling with our baby. Our little one also enjoyed a lot playing with his new friend Dominic and his toys.
The area is great for grabbing a quick bite (Chinatown / Lower East Side) and the subway around the corner takes you almost everywhere. We'd definitely stay here again!
Yanina, Daniel and their baby Dominic are great, we couldn't chat to much with them as we were out all the time but I can tell you all, they were very welcoming and helpful during our arrival and our stay at NYC. The apartment is nice and the room it's a little bit smaller as it look in the pictures but it is more than perfect for one and it is OK for two, the AC it's great and new, the bed it really comfortable and you will have enough space to put all your shoppings/stuff. The bathroom is OK as well.
Yanina and Daniel had several days friends at the apartment, still they respect perfectly your space and the sleeping time as well.
Dominic is a good guy he is a great climber ;)
Regarding the neighborhood, it is OK, it seems to be grunge and it will take you sometime to get use to, but it the night seems to have more life, I don't know how secure it is to walk in the night but we did it quite late and we felt comfortable with that. The apartment is in China town so you will find several good places to eat Chinese food, also in the nights, there are several places to just chill and grab a beer and/or go out to dinner, we recommend you the Indian food on 6th St (our favorite), cheese grille (great flavored sandwiches) and sugar café to have a coffee with a delicious piece or bread or cake or even a huge and delicious breakfast (French fries are really special)
Thanks for hosting us guys!
It was an awesome experience staying at Yanina and Daniel's lovely apartment! The apartment is very secure and in a very good location, with restaurant, attractions and the subway in close proximity. I will recommend this place to friends for sure!
We had a great time staying with Yanina, Daniel and their cute kid. The apartment is in a perfect location, with many tourist destinations and convenient subway lines in close proximity. The room was perfect for two people and we had everything we needed. Yanina and Daniel were very friendly and welcoming.
For a great stay in New York, this is the perfect place.
