We had a wonderful time at Fields of Gold. It's a shingled cottage in the redwoods, with a great view of meadow and forest and even a peek-a-boo view of the sea when it's not fogged in. It's quiet and peaceful. The cottage bed/bedroom is in an alcove around the corner from the living area. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics. I even did some baking while there.
Dale and Linda were welcoming and friendly, yet allowed us plenty of privacy. They were quick to respond if we needed anything. We were there for 4 weeks, so got to feel right at home. Their Springer Spaniel dog Hunter was very friendly too and wanted to show us around and greet us when we went out in the morning. He's a sweetie and we fell in love with him.
This cottage is just a few minutes drive from Fort Bragg, but still has a forest and rural feel. We found lots to do in the area.
Loved our stay and plan to go back again. Linda and Dale are really the perfect hosts!
Dale was waiting for us upon our arrival & immediately made us feel welcomed. He showed us around. Everything was as represented on the website with everything one would need to be comfortable. He provided coffee, tea & bottled water for the Keurig coffeemaker. The place is quite & peaceful with huge redwood trees everywhere. He also answered our questions about the new bike trail at Glass Beach which was wonderful. On our last evening he & Linda invited us for wine on their deck. We really enjoyed visiting with them & hearing about the property history. We will return again! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Our trip was one we will always look back on with great appreciation! Linda and Dale provided a beautiful and perfect size cottage for the two of us, equipped with everything we needed! Linda was very kind and we loved that Hunter joined us for breakfast and coffee in the front of the house. We luckily snuck in for a couple nights after there was a cancellation! We had perfect timing all throughout our trip. The first night we arrived in time to view the sunset over the ocean from the living room windows, then caught some music in Medocino the next day, followed by a beautiful sunset at Jug Handle beach that night. We will definitely be making plans to return, as well as recommending this place to our friends! Thank you very much!
We loved staying at 'Fields of Gold'! The house is adorable and a great size for retreating in comfort. The views out each window are priceless-huge trees and a meadow of gold. The house was warm and cozy with an amazing pellet stove hooked up to the heater panel. We cooked each night is a well stocked kitchen and dined out side looking over the meadow lined by huge trees. What amazed me most was the sound of real silence. Precious.
Dale and Linda are great host and wonderful people. They treated like family and were so open and generous with us. If you are going to Fort Bragg or passing through, you will feel right at home in the Fields of Gold!
Our stay here was amazing, it is such a lovely cottage and the serene location really makes you feel like you're on vacation. The house has everything you need to really feel at home. We brought our dog who loved exploring the property. It is great distance to downtown Fort Bragg and Mendocino but a few minutes out so off the beaten path. Thier dog Hunter was fiendly and adorable. Dale was very welcoming and respected our privacy. We found a new favorite spot for our annual visits and will definately be returning!
Our experience at Fields of Gold was unforgettable!
Linda, Dale and Hunter are exceptionally welcoming hosts.
Their place is what you would expect from a fairy tale. It combines a cozy atmosphere and breathtaking setting and views.
Feeling a part of the surrounding nature in the woods and having easy accessibility to the beautiful coastal area of Mendocino County are unique.
Can't wait to be back!
