Fields of Gold was a wonderful getaway. We stayed there with our baby and our dog and felt so lucky to have found it: a quiet cottage in the woods, sweet and cosy, with friendly hosts (including Hunter the dog), only a short drive away from Fort Bragg's Main St and from the beach. The place is exactly as described, and really has a lovely home feel to it. We were sad to leave!
Everything was as listed. Dale and Linda even left a bottle of wine for us when we arrived. If your looking for a quiet get away in a comfortable atmosphere I strongly suggest staying here.
this is an absolutely gorgeous property fixed in between towering redwoods, overlooking a lovely field, with views of the sea in the distance. quaint, serene, full of sun light. moreover, hunter (the resident dog) stole our hearts. it was so hard leaving fields of gold and our new friend hunter behind.
Linda and Dale are lovely, kind and welcoming people, and their Fields of Gold apartment is a gem! It's bright, comfortable, well-equipped and has wonderful views... and a nearby field for our puppy to run around in. In the mornings you can see a redwood through the (very clean) skylight thoughtfully situated in front of the bed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Fields of gold is a cozy, tranquil and beautiful place. Hosts Dale and Linda are warm, thoughtful and welcoming. Hunter, the cutest and friendliest dog on the planet, was the greatest bonus to this wonderful experience.
Excellent hosts, easy communication, and the Fields of Gold cottage is cute and comfortable with lots of windows. Kitchen is well-equipped for meal prep and also includes a choice of Keurig or French press for coffee lovers. Bathroom doesn't have a ventilation fan but does have a window that opens. Quiet location with pretty views. Spacious driveway and parking. Easy short drive to beaches or downtown Ft. Bragg or Mendocino. Hunter was a friendly and enthusiastic guide when we went for a walk on the property. Lovely retreat - wish we could have stayed longer.
Dale and Linda were the best! After great communication back and forth, we arrived to find a friendly dog Hunter greeting us, and an even friendlier Linda - so sweet with a bottle of local wine. We loved learning their deep family roots in the area. The little cabin itself was everything you need in a place - quiet, comfortable, with cozy furniture and all the amenities. All the little bath gels and such from various hotels were the cutest touch in the bathroom. You wake up to trees through the skylight, and the sound of their working wood pellet stove if its cold - just delightful. Hunter the dog was a very good host, and explored the "field of gold" with us in the morning. My boyfriend summed it up nicely - he wished we could have never left. Hope we get to return soon!

We are a family who have had the wonderful opportunity to live on the property that has been homesteaded by three generations prior. The homes on the property were all built by family members from current and past generations. Dale and his father worked in the construction business for many years. We love living here in the most beautiful area that we know, the "Mendocino Coast" we want you to enjoy your time here on the coast, being a fourth generation native, we can help you find all those secret, hidden hideaways.
