This was our first trip to Charleston and we were in town to attend a wedding. Staying with Jeff and Carla made it a real vacation. They have a lovely home and are the most gracious of hosts. The space was comfortable and private and big enough for two, and Jeff and Carla always made sure that we were welcome to share their living room and kitchen, as well. I expect that you will see this in many reviews, but breakfasts are really wonderful! And after a day of walking and exploring Charleston, it was a delight to return to wine, cheese and conversation in their Mount Pleasant home, as we prepared for wedding activities each evening.
Definitely don't pass up Jeff and Carla's Charleston hospitality! If you're looking for a cozy place to stay and the kind of treatment you would receive at a relative's home their home is the pick for you!
Like most of these reviews stated already, Jeff's cooking skills are unreal! He made a delicious shrimp and grits breakfast the Sunday we were leaving and Carla provided us with a glass of wine with cheese and crackers the Friday we arrived. From beginning to end we enjoyed our stay in their home!
P.s. Jeff and Carla's home is in the center of everything. About a ten minute drive to anything and everything you would want to explore in the Charleston area!
Jeff and Carla absolutely made our week! Their home is gorgeous and welcoming but nothing beats their hospitality and kindness. They served us delicious breakfasts and gave us "insider" advice on what to see and do in the area. My family and I spent a lot of time rocking on Jeff and Carla's beautiful front porch. They are such a thoughtful, caring couple. We were so spoiled on our first airbnb experience!
Our stay with Jeff and Carla was one of our best Airbnb experiences ever. We enjoyed absolutely everything, the great room, the yummy breakfast, the nice neighborhood and closeness to Charleston, and most of all Jeff and Carla's company. They are wonderful people and it was so nice to chat with them during breakfast or when coming home after a day of sightseeing. They are incredibly generous and do an absolutely fantastic job in making you feel welcome. If you want to spend a couple of days in Charleston, Jeff and Carla's home should be your first choice!
Carla and Jeff were both home when we arrived. They warmly welcomed us. They asked if we wanted any refreshments, showed us the house, and gave us maps of the neighborhood and city.
The house was beautiful and more inviting than what we expected. The breakfasts were fabulous all three mornings while we were there. Very good variety and the hosts were accommodating to our vegetarian needs. The coffee was outstanding! And they always had it ready on a timer for when we wanted it. In fact, they asked every evening when we'd like breakfast the next day.
The house is located in I'ON in Mount Pleasant. It was a great neighborhood to walk around in with beautiful homes (similar to the ones in historic Charleston) surrounded by lakes, canals, and even a rookery. It was surprising to us that there were also restaurants, stores and a pub within easy walking distance.
We would certainly recommend these hosts and their home for other Airbnb people.
Jeff and Carla were fantastic hosts! We had a wonderful time from our arrival late Friday evening enjoying a glass of wine and the NCAA tournament play off game to the delicious Sunday brunch before heading home. Everything was just lovely. Their home is beautiful and nestled in a lovely neighborhood with all of the feel of Old Charleston while being in a new development with restaurants, shops and more within walking distance. We enjoyed meeting them and can't wait to return and stay again on our next trip to Charleston. We travel to Charleston at least once a year to run the Cooper River Bridge Run and look forward to seeing them again next spring if not before.
Jeff and Carla were fabulous hosts! Staying here was certainly better than staying at any large hotel. The house was Very clean, the bed was super comfortable, and I can't even begin to comment how good the food was that Jeff served us in the morning! Will definitely stay here again if we are in the area!
About the Host, Jeff And Carla
Our goal is to provide guests with a welcoming and comfortable place to stay while visiting Charleston. We love fixing breakfast and seeing that you have the amenities to make your stay a little like visiting friends. Let's just say we want you to experience the hospitality we enjoy while travelling.
We retired in August of 2014, and moved back to Mt Pleasant, SC, where we previously lived in the 1980's. We returned because we love being near the water, the history, and the terrific culture that you find in the lowcountry.
Jeff was raised in Indiana and Carla grew up in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. We have also lived in southern Ohio, Shelby, North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and suburban Chicago, Illinois. We both love to travel, cook, read, and spend time on the water, though not necessarily in that order.
We look forward to sharing our home with guests.
