Interaction with Guests
We will always be home to greet you upon arrival and are happy to join you for a glass of wine or breakfast. However, we do also understand that you are on vacation and may just prefer minimal interaction. We provide breakfast daily and also wine and cheese (on the porch when weather allows) in the late afternoon if you like.
Our home is in a wonderful and very convenient neighborhood with restaurants within walking distance and a grocery store a mere block away. The neighborhood has sidewalks and walking/jogging areas including a marsh front path of approximately 1 -1/2 miles. There is also a rookery within walking distance.
Our home is very convenient to Charleston via the Ravenel Bridge. It's about a 12 minute drive to the corner of East Bay St and Market. The Isle of Palms is accessible via the connector or you may reach Sullivans Island via the Ben Sawyer Bridge. Both islands are about a 15 minute drive. We are also conveniently located to Patriots Point, Mt. Pleasant's Waterfront Park, and The College of Charleston. There is a CARTA bus stop approximately 2 blocks from the house.
Other Things to Note
Please note that our price is inclusive. There are no additional fees for cleaning or an extra person.
We just ask that our guests are respectful of our home. No smoking is allowed.
First and foremost, Jeff and Carla are wonderful people. They are the epitome of southern hospitality. When we walked in, we were offered wine with some nice snacks. They were knowledgeable about the city, where to eat and who is who. The next morning, Jeff prepared an incredible southern breakfast, everything homemade. Our room was clean and lovely with our own bathroom in the room. Everything that we could need was well provided for in terms of amenities. We only stayed one night, but I would absolutely stay again. Thank you!
This is a wonderful place to stay! Jeff and Carla are more lovely than you could imagine, and their home is comfortable and luxurious. I was warmly greeted with wine and snacks. They pleasantly answered all of my questions and gave me plenty of insider tips so I could enjoy the local restaurants and out of the way points of interest. Jeff and Carla, thank you so much for opening your home. I feel I have now experienced that legendary Southern Hospitality. I will be back!
Our stay with Jeff and Carla was our first AirBnB experience, and it was above and beyond our expectations. Their home is beautiful, comfortable, and conveniently-located to the heart of Charleston. Their knowledge of the area and recommendations were fantastic. And their hospitality-breakfast included-was phenomenal. We are so grateful for Jeff and Carla hosting us on our first trip to Charleston and would very much recommend their place to anyone looking for a refreshing Charleston getaway. We look forward to coming back!
Jeff and Carla spoiled us for future Airbnb stays. They set a new bar in hospitality and professionalism that we think will be hard to match again. Their home was pristine and our room felt luxurious with white linens, down duvet and wifi. They thought of every detail in the bathroom, with a hair dryer, spare unopened toothbrushes, tissues, Q-tips, spacious shower with squeegee, etc. They replaced our towels with fresh ones every morning.
Unexpectedly, Jeff is a wonderful cook, and they treated us to such delicious breakfasts as waffles w/ homemade butter pecan syrup, bacon and egg frittata, and creme brûlée Italian loaf French toast with slow cooked grits (whoa!).
Jeff and Carla are committed to the Airbnb experience of building a trust community among hosts and travelers. We had several lovely conversations with them over breakfast and at the end of the day. They gave very helpful guidance for our day trips and were exemplary ambassadors for the city of Charleston.
One thing we must mention is that if you are looking for an experience with no traveler/host interaction, Jeff and Carla are not for you. They have a beautiful home and want to get to know the people who stay in it. We are very grateful that they take this approach, as they enriched our experience of Charleston. We will most certainly be back if they will have us.
Our stay with Jeff and Carla was delightful. Their home conveyed the spirit of Old Charleston in a beautiful area of Mount Pleasant, and made downtown Charleston quick and easy to get to. They thought of every amenity, and included our extended family in a delicious Southern breakfast without missing a beat. This should be the air bnb standard for hospitality, comfort, and ease. We look forward to returning to stay with Jeff and Carla.
We loved our visit in your wonderful home.
Jeff and Carla's home in Charleston is comfortable and beautiful! They are gracious hosts, and I felt right at home. I look forward to a return visit!
Our goal is to provide guests with a welcoming and comfortable place to stay while visiting Charleston. We love fixing breakfast and seeing that you have the amenities to make your stay a little like visiting friends. Let's just say we want you to experience the hospitality we enjoy while travelling.
We retired in August of 2014, and moved back to Mt Pleasant, SC, where we previously lived in the 1980's. We returned because we love being near the water, the history, and the terrific culture that you find in the lowcountry.
Jeff was raised in Indiana and Carla grew up in the Finger Lakes region of western New York state. We have also lived in southern Ohio, Shelby, North Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and suburban Chicago, Illinois. We both love to travel, cook, read, and spend time on the water, though not necessarily in that order.
We look forward to sharing our home with guests.
