Ricardo and his wife made us feel very comfortable on our arrival. During our stay they gave us information about the city and places we wanted to see. They told us about the history of the neighborhood. It was very interesting. They were available throughout our stay to answer any questions. The place is great and has everything you need plus amazing views of the city. I would recommend to anyone who is trying to see the city. We had a fantastic time.
Ricardo and his wife and absolutely charming, and their child and dog were adorable! He speaks some English, which was helpful, but it was a little more challenging (though still very fun) communicating with his wife. So Portuguese skills are a plus. The accommodations are just as endearing and idyllic as the pictures make it look. The view of the city centro of Rio is excellent, and the lively neighborhoods of Lapa and St. Teresa are exciting! The hosts assessment of group size are accurate -- more than 3 can get a little cramped, though 4 people is certainly doable if you don't mind all sharing a bathroom. Our group was a little sad to leave the coziness and the view. We would definitely recommend it!
Ricardo's atelier is a can't-miss experience. The views of the city are breathtaking (Arcos de Lapa, the bay, so much more), and the space itself is very comfortable. I found the evening breezes to be very relaxing; it rained briefly but heavily on both nights of my stay and the atelier stayed almost completely dry.
The atelier is well-located, and offers a great jumping off point from which to explore Lapa!
Ricardo was a great host, and did everything he could have to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
Ricardo and his family are great hosts. They are very friendly, discrete, flexible and always available to help.
The room/terrace is in great location, minutes from Escaderia Selaron and is decorated with excellent taste.
If you are happy sleeping in open air, enjoy town views from a height, appreciate music and want to be close to the heart of Rio 's nightlife in Lapa, Ricardo 's place is very highly recommended.
Only note hot water is not predictably available (which is not really a problem in a city with tropical weather like Rio).
Overall, our experience in Ricardo's place was so great that one of my friends declated he wants to exchange it with his own flat back home!
