The space

City of Austin Operating License #OL (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

Located in a quiet neighborhood just 4 blocks east of downtown (Convention Center) and 4 blocks south of 6th Street nightlife, this little sun-filled bungalow consists of a large studio plus separate bathroom and kitchen, with Saltillo tile floors- everything is new.

Queen-sized bed, dining table and chairs. Kitchen comes with refrigerator, gas range, microwave, toaster, coffee/espresso maker, cookware, and utensils. The bungalow also has a washer/dryer, central AC/heat and wifi. Off-street parking available. (TV has only a few channels).

You can walk, run, or bike the hike-and-bike trail on Ladybird Lake (just 5 blocks to the south) to the Barton Springs pool in l5-20 minutes.

Airport is a ten minute drive away!
Currently, RideAustin (ride-share company) only costs about $6 to get downtown and the cars show up at the bungalow in less than two minutes.

Both Downtown and East Side neighborhood restaurants and bars are within a short 5 to 15 minute walking distance from this house.

Sorry, no dogs.

Guest access

Guests can access the bungalow, an outdoor patio, and the roof-top terrace on the Blue Casita in the back garden (view of downtown).

Interaction with guests

We always greet guests and open the bungalow for them when possible (which is almost always). Normally guests just leave the keys locked inside the door when they leave.
We also offer ideas on restaurants, cafes, bars, and sights, and have a list of our favorites that we provide.

We are happy to interact a lot, if guests are interested, some are and others are not. Guests can access and enter/leave the bungalow without interacting with us, although we are living right next-door.

Other things to note

We live in a great neighborhood for walking or biking to parks, the river, cafes, restaurants, bars, and small shops. Our block is totally residential and very quiet, but just a block away and beyond there is a lot to do and see.

We have never had any noise problems with any AirBnB guests. We let people know that the local sound ordinance requires no extremely loud noise after 10:30pm, but so far our guests have not been inclined to "party" in our back garden.

Guests can park on the street in front of our house, there is plenty of safe, free parking. We've only had one guest who felt more comfortable parking in our driveway, which was fine.

Edie and Alberto's bungalow was perfect. Comfortable, cool, well decorated and convenient to everything we wanted while not being in the heart of downtown. Great place to stay as a couple looking for a neighborhood feel that is still walking distance to the sights.

Edie's place is great! Perfect for a couple - nice size, everything you need. Awesome location! East Austin is super happening and a 20 minute walk to downtown was perfect for me.

We totally enjoyed our stay at Edie's. The space, inside and out, is even more beautiful than pictures can capture. Their little house was very accommodating for guests. There was actually space to put our suitcases away, there were real pot and pans and kitchen tools, a stove top espresso maker and even a washer and dryer which was a real treat after traveling for two weeks. Edie also gave us lots of useful tips on places around Austin for arts and eats. We'd come back and stay with them again just for the pleasure of their company.

This is a delightful place with delightful people. Eddie and Alberto are kind and interesting people. The place is laid out well and there is plenty of room to unpack. I enjoyed having a kitchen and laundry. They were also so kind as to lend me a bike - and I rode to Barton Springs for a swim. I hope to stay here again when I come back to Austin.

Edie and Alberto are wonderful hosts! The bungalow was pefect for our stay! They have everything you need to feel at home in a wonderful setting both inside and out!! The location is great, a nice family neighborhood with lots of character! Great places to eat very near by and local grocery shops too!! Edie provided a great list of their favorites that was really helpful. I was initially a little worried about street parking but it was plentiful right in front of the house! Edie and Alberto are so welcoming and helpful, always quick with an answer to any question and just so nice!!! We loved our stay and plan on returning!! Don't hesitate to book this delightful place!!

Great location that's within 10-20 minutes walking distance of interesting places, but located on a quiet, easygoing street. Edie and Alberto were very thoughtful in how the bungalow was arranged, giving recommendations on points of interest, and even let us borrow their bicycles. Access to a hike and bike trail along the Colorado river is a just a few blocks away.

Nothing but good things to say about Edie & Alberto's guest house. They were wonderful hosts and using their space helped make our trip to Austin that much better. The space was both clean and comfortable in addition to being very well equipped. Within a few blocks we were able to walk to some of Austin's best breakfast tacos (Veracruz All Natural) as well as world class BBQ (La Barbecue). Easy walk up to hip E. 6th St for additional restaurants and watering holes. Multiple bike share stations are within a 10 min walk and everything else Austin has to offer is a cheap uber ride away. When I come back to Austin, I will stay in Edie & Alberto's guest house again.

Edie User ProfileEdie is a superhost.

I moved to Austin 10 years ago and feel I've found my home. I'm a professor of English as a Second Language at a local university and very active in the local urban agriculture movement-- I helped start up a big community garden in downtown/east Austin, just a few blocks from our house.
I love urban life and enjoy walking or riding bikes along the city's hike-and-bike trail which is a few blocks from our house. I also value knowing my neighbors and meeting travelers from around the country and the world. I lived in Holland for five years and have traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, and Argentina. My husband is fluent in Spanish and I'm still pretty good in Dutch.
