in the centre of our picturesque, SW Lakes market town.. Perfect for walking, cycling, exploring & relaxing. Ideal base for touring main Lakes attractions (ideally with own transport as public transport links are poor), lovely to return to calm after day trips out and about. Pubs, restaurant, cafes short walking distances.

The 3 guest bedrooms, all on the first floor, are 2 double bedrooms and a king-size +single +extra Zbed or cot). Both sitting rooms have real fires. Our dining room can seat 8-10. This means we can comfortably accommodate a group booking of 7/8 (at a specially reduced rate. (Up to 9 if the cot is in room 2).We are ideally suited to family groups with children, we are a very child friendly household! But also great for couples too, or a smaller group. Hairdryers are in 2 rooms, but a third can be made available! All bedrooms have Freeview TV & DVD and also tea/coffee facilities. Free parking in The Square.
The shared bathroom is generously sized with separate shower cubicle/bath, next to the bedrooms. There is also our bathroom, on the 2nd floor, for limited use (by arrangement), when larger groups are booked.
Cereals, fruit, toastable goods, fruit juice, tea & coffee are provided daily for breakfast.
Full access to cooking in our superbly equipped kitchen for self-catering (by arrangement). Our lounge may be used during the day or join us in the evening (while we chill after work during cooler evenings), and there is also the cosy family room, with TV, next to the kitchen, leading to our outdoor, decked, dining area at the rear, with a large charcoal bbq available, (by arrangement).
Interaction with guests
We warmly welcome our guests and are happy to impart our wealth of local knowledge and help/advise when wanted. We are friendly folk, happy to chat (over a tea, coffee or something stronger!) or to leave our guests to privacy and quiet. We will generally be in and around in the mornings and evenings. And can usually be found in our main lounge, kitchen or, on warm summers evenings, almost certainly outside at the rear!
Other things to note
We have award winning shops minutes away, Bakery, butcher, grocer, P.O, & more for you to browse, cafes, pubs & restaurant too, all just minutes away on foot. Barrow in Furness (13 miles) is our major shopping town and has everything you would expect of a large town/city. Ulverston is a traditional market town, very quaint, also where a bus to Windermere for those visitors without own transport. The nearest small supermarkets are in Millom (7 miles) and of course, at most of the central lakes tourist areas! There are so many, with Coniston & Windermere just a short drive away. The beautiful Duddon Valley is also well worth exploring. The fells all around us are magnificent. In order to take full advantage of all the main Lakes tourist areas , it would be best to have your own vehicle.
We want our guests to relax in our home and enjoy our wonderful town. Mucky walking boots to be taken off before heading upstairs please. We are non-smokers so absolutely no smoking (or 'vaping') within the house....... outside only. Other than that, mutual respect and........relax and enjoy :-))

I've loved living at Laurel Bank since 1996. I used to do B&B here early on. During those few years I had people from all over staying here. It will be good fun to rekindle those days!
I work as a T.A. at a local primary school (since 2000)
My husband, Dave, has lived here since 2003. He has his own business in joinery & carpentry. We love our village life.
Our home is at it's best with more people around. Our children (6 in all) have grown and left the nest (most still near to home), leaving us with 5 spare bedrooms! Our larger families (& friends) are from Liverpool, Nottingham & New Zealand, and they all love visiting us for good company, food, walks and real ale.
We love our local walks, short strolls and lengthier, more challenging, right from our doorstep. We also love our touring caravan, and often choose sites very close to home as our area is so gorgeous.
Travelling the world was a huge part of my life before children, and since Dave and I have hooked up we've enjoyed trips to Bulgaria, Spain, Singapore and best of all, New Zealand, touring in a camper van, north to South, visiting family.
When not working, walking or touring, we relax with good home cooked meals, movies, music, TV, reading, wine, ale........different sorts of all of them.......variety is the spice of life!
We have grand children now, and love their visits and the calm when they've gone home. Our home is very 'child friendly'.
We enjoy meeting new visitors at our friendly home
