About This Listing
The one bedroom and one bath house was originally built on the East Coast. In 1906, the house was dismantled, and shipped to San Francisco via freighter around Cape Horn, where it was reassembled on its current site.
The entire house was recently completely renovated with a new bathroom, kitchen, and appliances. The first floor living room has its original wide-plank redwood floor, exposed beam ceiling, modern furniture, and 42” flat-screen TV. A sofa converts into a full-size bed and comfortably sleeps 2 additional guests. The cabinetry throughout was custom built for the space by a local cabinet maker.
The spacious kitchen/ dining area is open to the living room. It is fully equipped with Bertazoni gas range & oven, SubZero refrigerator drawers, Fisher&Paykel dishwasher, toaster, pots & pans, dishes, and utensils . Double doors open onto a spacious deck. You can enjoy relaxing on the deck overlooking the large private garden, or sway with a good book in the hammock below.
A wooden staircase takes you up to the master bedroom with full bed, seating area, flat-screen cable TV, carpeted floors and large glass doors opening onto the second-story balcony over looking San Francisco.
A study off the master bedroom has a convertible chaise lounge thats sleeps an additional person. The second floor bathroom with penny mosaic tile floor and overhead rain shower is luxuriously appointed.
The house has no garage, but there is street parking in front of the house

Everything was perfect. GREAT space. I wish I had more time to enjoy it. Beautiful quiet SF home. Great use of space and nicely decorated/appointed. 2 block walk to great food/shopping. Outdoor space is top notch. Great for chilling and reading, or your morning coffee/breakfast. I stayed for business, but I highly recommend for couples.
The listing was accurate and the host made me feel really welcome upon arrival despite their busy schedules. Not only is the place historic and interesting, but there is interesting art and designer toys too! The views and incoming fog were magical and impressed my out of town family members a lot.
This is a unique, adorable house situated on a steep hill overlooking exciting neighborhoods. It's close to amazing restaurants, shops, and local transportation. The back decks both offer views out over Castro Valley and central San Francisco. It's like having the whole city at your doorstep. There is only one main bedroom (with spectacular views from the deck). The sofa in the living room converts easily to a second bed, but it's not as deluxe as the upstairs set-up. For visitors who want a central location from which to explore all of San Francisco, this house is ideal.
The cottage was beautiful and the views spectacular. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
