About this listing
A charming bed and breakfast in the centre of Rome and of the Roman spirit, for a stay that will measure up to your wishes: relaxing, fun, cultural, culinary.
Our B&B is located in the heart of Testaccio, the characteristic area of Rome famous for its restaurants and nightlife, but above all of inhabitants, which has maintened the original popular and genuine ‘Romanesco’ spirit.
During the day Testaccio is similar to a country town: market stalls, children playing in the square, dinner in local restaurants.
At night, especially over the weekend, the neighbourhood is lively and full of a variety of events, from live music to theatres and exhibitions.
All this at only 1.7 Kms from the Coliseum!
Our apartment is situated on the 4th floor of a typical end of 19th century building (no lift), from where you can enjoy the view of the the large plane trees in via Galvani. Those trees endows the magic atmosphere of a house in the trees... in the very heart of the city! There are two double rooms and one triple room, all with private bathrooms, aird conditioning, LCD TV, Satellite programmes and free wi-fi. A refrigerator and a microwave oven are also available.
From our b&b you can reach on foot and by public transport most of the monuments of Rome: Pyramid, Testaccio Hill, Aventine, Circus Maximus, Bath of Caracalla, Palatine, Colosseum, Roman Forum and Imperial Fora,Trastevere, Janiculum Hill, Mouth of Truth, Piazza Venezia, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, Castel Sant'Angelo, San Pietro, Piazza del Popolo, Pincio ...............and many many more: Gianni and I are architects and we are happy to suggest you various itineraries full of surprises and fun.
See you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elisa's apartment is very lovely and extremely clean and tidy. Snacks and breakfast food available all the time and you can help yourself to anything anytime. Elisa recommended many great restaurants in the area and we ate in 2 of them during our 1 day stay there and they were both very good. The most impressive thing was her willingness to carry my luggage up 4 flights of stairs (she made it look easy). Overall we had a very nice and comfortable stay.
Elisa was wonderful!! We were completely spoiled during our trip in Rome. She tidied, helped us (when we even accidentally knocked the power off), and even made sure we were fed in the mornings! I couldn't say anything remotely negative about our stay. Highly recommend it to anyone! (Also, the air conditioner is heaven during the Summer months).
El barrio es muy lindo y tranquilo. En el aviso no dice que no hay ascensor t son 4 pisos por escalera. Elisa es muy simpática, amable y atenta.
We had a lovely stay at Elisa's B&B in Testacio. First of all, Elisa is a great host. Communication was clear. We arrived in Rome very late but she checked in on us by phone and helped us find our way when the last train had already departed.
The room is very well represented in the pictures and description. It is in a well kept apartment with 2 more guest rooms and a shared kitchen (on the 4th floor, so a bit of a clime but nothing healthy people can't handle :-) The apartment has windows on a busy street but these can be closed and there is air conditioning so we were not bothered by that at all. The breakfast is provided and is abundant, with nice espresso coffee, toast and a fridge full of good stuff. It is also possible to cook you own meals.
We stayed for 6 nights. Our beds were made every day and there was an in-between room cleaning after 3 days. The bathroom is modern and very clean.
Testacio is a nice neighborhood just southwest of Circo Massimo. It is upcoming with some nice restaurants nearby, but without the loud street parties of neighboring Trastevere (which can be reached by foot easily within 15-20 minutes by the way). It is more a "local" place than a "tourist" place but we like that. Plenty of supermarkets around as well. And plenty of bars a little bit more south towards Ostiense station.
Some of the main tourist attractions can be reached by foot, but metro station Piramide is 5 minutes away. Aventine Hill is around the corner and provides a not to be missed sun set view of rome (and the famous "key hole view" of the St. Peter). Tip: get a bicycle (e.g. from Bici & Baci for €12,50 per day) and all of Rome is within easy reach. Especially Sundays are great for bikes since traffic is less hectic (go to Villa Borghese!). The bikes can be safely kept within the gates of the apartment building.
Elisa was a wonderful host! She met us at the apartment and wasn't bothered at all by our flight getting in later than expected. She was helpful with recommendations for everything we needed, restaurants especially. The apartment is in a great location for eating out!
Everyday she came to make the bed and clean the kitchen. She absolutely made us feel on vacation!
The location is great, if you don't mind some walking to the sights. There is easy access to the bus line and train station, though, which makes all types of travel accessible.
We will absolutely stay with Elisa again if we are back in Rome!
We had a great time in Roma. Elisa greeted us warmly. She gave us tips to visit the city. The room is comfortable, the breakfast very good with a lot of food. We recommend strongly to stay at The house on the trees.
We were 4 nights at Elisa's place in Testaccio. Elisa welcomed us on our arrival and it was warm! She had loads of tips For restaurants and other sightseeing.. The room was very nice and comfortable. Nice shower, airco and nice cookies:)
The neighbourhood was great, not to touristic and nice restaurants, we loved Ketumbar!!
The room is all the way up, so don't be afraid For Some exercise:)
You have your own room and share the kitchen with 2 other rooms.
Everything was there for a good breakfast and good coffee!!!!
We will definitly stay here again For our next trip to Rome! 3
