About this listing

Harbor Home Vacation Rentals Exclusive: Located in the center of it all, the view looks out to the bay and Mt. Rainier. Picturesque! The house is within one mile of the public dock, park, and boat and kayak rentals. The patio view it all.

The space

Fully renovated historic home within walking distance of everything in Gig Harbor. Once being a bus depot, then a fire station, the home embraces the home’s age with a new twist.

The main floor has a big kitchen and table for four. Fully equipped, but if you need something let us know! The dining room table seats six, and adjacent living room seats many with a fireplace and new 50' TV with cable and DVD player. Also on the main floor is a full bath, and 3 bedrooms (1 California King, 1 Queen, and a lofted double with twin bed underneath). The vintage bathroom has been refurbished including the pink fixtures and existing chandelier to embrace the home’s roots.

Downstairs there is a king bed, TV/family room, and full bathroom.

The house has sensational views, but means the majority of the living space is upstairs. The entry is through the outside stairs and there are interior (steep) stairs as well.

This is a VERY old house- it really needs new furniture, new beds, new linens, and at minimal a kitchen remodel with new kitchen supplies. If you have very low standards it is worth the $179 because of the location and the view, but there is not a hint of luxury in this place.

Response from Krista:
We are so sorry to hear your feedback. Everything in the home is fairly new (3 years or less), with the exception of the few items that are original to the home (the bathroom and kitchen sinks, the fireplace, the chandeliers). Part of what the remodel on this property was meant to do was to keep the charm and retro feel of the home, as it was Gig Harbor's Volunteer Firehouse, and holds a lot of history. Again, we are so sorry you felt this way and wish that you would have let us know during your stay so that we could have tried to make it right. We would love to have you back at one of our properties and hopefully make it up to you.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Gig Harbor. The rooms were well kept, spacious, and neat. The furniture and appliances were all well suited to our needs; especially the dinning table, which easily accommodated our family. The bathrooms were clean and in good condition. The home was conveniently located and a good distance from everything we needed. The towels offered were soft and comfortable. Krista was a really good host and quickly responded to any questions that I had. I would consider staying here again for my next vacation. Cheers, Sarah

Krista was great! I loved the views of Gig Harbor from the property, I would definitely come back!! I loved the house and so did everyone in our party. The only things I would want people to know about is that this property sits right on a main street and is walking distance to the town. Cars pass all day and all night and neighbors are extremely close to the property and they do not handle people making noise very well. The rugs were a little dirty with stains, and sweat stains on the wood furniture, rings on them from drinks, it does not effect how beautiful the host is, just be aware to use coaters. All in all great trip and would love to come again!

The location of the house was great, and our party had no issues whatsoever during our two-night stay. We would easily recommend this home if you're looking for space and charm in Gig Harbor.

We visited Krista's property towards the end of July and spent 3 nights there. Overall it was a 3.5 star stay (mostly because it was overpriced for what we paid on the weekend we visited) What we liked: Nicely furnished house with spacious bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, very nice views from the living room, and a pretty backyard. They have a stock of board games as well for entertaining the kids. A bottle of Chianti was waiting for us when we checked in. We cooked a couple of meals in the house and enjoyed the use of pantry staples (like olive oil, seasonings, ketchup) What we didn't like: - Bathrooms: Both bathrooms were old, and one of them had fixtures which were hard to operate (esp. for kids in our party). The shower curtains were not very clean. - The downstairs bedroom (which was a garage converted into a bedroom) was very musty with no fresh air ventilation. - Communication: Harbor homes communicates by email only (they are generally prompt with replies). Would have preferred an option to talk in person and get insights into our itinerary, a service we would have expected from a host (which I assumed is the premise of Airbnb) What we didn't realize: It's at about 45 mins away from the airport, and at least 1 hr 15 mins to Seattle (given the traffic on I5). We were not able to enjoy the yard and gig harbor as much because of the time we spend in the commute.

Response from Krista:
I am so sorry that your experience was not what we would have loved it to be. This home was staged to embrace the original fixtures in the home, and we realize that they take a little more upkeep, but wanted to keep them to add to the vibe of the home and embrace it's history. The shower curtains have been cleaned with bleach since your stay and spoke with our cleaner in regard to that. In regard to your itinerary I do remember sharing our knowledge of the olympic National Forest and the other questions that you asked, and hoped that helped as much as possible-- if it didn't I wish you would have asked further questions so we could have helped your experience better. I am truly sorry, but hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather and the time you were able to spend in Gig Harbor.
