This is an upstairs, airy unit with lots of light and beautiful views of the golf course & ocean. As of March '16, thanks in part to guest feedback, we have hi-speed wireless internet.

The neighborhood

Colony One/Sea Mountain is a unique place. The setting & location are wonderful & unusual. Definite Hawaiian country feel. The complex is well maintained & small enough to stay friendly. People say hello to each other as they walk past & lots of conversations are started while lounging in the pool/hot tub area. Since buying our unit over 10 years ago, we have spent a lot of time fixing it up & making it as comfortable as possible for our guests. There is a great bakery, coffee mill (that has tours & free samples), and farmers market all within a a 10-minute drive. Lots to explore in this lesser known part of the island and our place is a great starting point for your adventures. We invite you to be our guest at #24.

Getting around

You will need to rent a car if you choose to stay here. We are about 60 minutes from Hilo airport & 95 minutes from Kona airport.

Other things to note

This area is considered remote. There are some things to know before you go that will make your trip that much easier. Once booked, I send a document of all that important info. It also has places/activities/restaurants etc that we have grown to know & love. As an ex-tour guide, I take a lot of time making sure this is up-to-date so you don't miss out on any of the incredible things the Big Island has to offer.

The place and location were absolutely beautiful! When we were enroute from Hilo we said to ourselves 'how much further can it be' and 'where is the ocean'? Then all of sudden we saw the coast line and shortly thereafter arrived at the turnoff. We were initially in awe prior to even entering with the beautiful flowers adorning the exterior. When we opened the door, we were further pleased with the spaciousness of the unit, from the bedroom to the bathroom and living/dining room. The lanai was a nice addition as it overlooks the ocean and provides a nice breeze, and the relaxing sound of waves. It also makes a nice romantic place to have dinner and observe the stars. The place is well equipped and we put to use a number of the kitchen amenities. The presence of a diversity of games and books about Hawaii from flora to fauna to sea creatures, and the book exchange were much appreciated! Having an infant with us, we also made good use of the pool and enjoyed the collective BBQs. The black sand beach, only a short walk down the road was also very nice for snorkeling when the water is calm and observing the green sea turtles. Make sure to do a large shop in Hilo or Kona beforehand as there is not a lot of places, if any to stock up nearby. Thanks a bunch for letting us your unit. We hope to return one day!

We loved staying at this nice place. The house is great in very safe and quiet neighborhood. Cozy, comfy, clean. It was exactly as described. Every morning we woke up and have breakfast with the fantastic view. Sue sent us very good explanation how to come to her place and details about Big Island. We didn't meet her in person - but the communication went very smoothly We highly recommend this place.

My husband and I both fell in love with the Big Island a few years ago. No matter how many times we go, there is always more to see & do. We chose this condo primarily for its location. Close to Volcano National Park & only an hour away from Hilo, our favorite city on the Big Island. The black sand beach is a 10-minute walk & its nice to visit it early before all the tour buses get there. That is a great time to see the turtles resting on the beach. We love that the complex is fairly secluded and quiet, a rare thing in todays busy world. The beautiful and peaceful setting instantly relaxes us. The view from our lanai is one of our favorite spots to spend time reading/eating/relaxing.
