This was the worst experience ever in our Airbnb history. We are experienced Airbnb travelers so we know what we are talking about.
Don't be lured by the nice description and pictures. You do not want to stay there.
I can't really tell much about the place because we simply never made it there. Why?
The directions we were given by the host were terrible, unclear and very broad. The place is located very far away from everything which we weren't expecting. Plus the road you have to drive on in order to get there was in a terrible condition, unsafe and could damage your car. We had an SUV but still we could not drive on some sections on the road even with higher clearance. After driving around for 2-3 hours, trying to find the place we called the host several times, but directions never became more clear. Instead it confused us more and more. We were tired, we drove all the way from the west coast. The last call we asked to meet us somewhere because we couldn't find the place and we were told that we have to wait a lot for that person to pick us up. We couldn't afford to lose more time, we were so frustrated so we decided that we would request the refund.
The host was very rude, she doesn't know what customer service really means, so she never gave us our money back even though we never made it to the place. She basically stole that money from us.
Very unfair, terrible experience. Stay away!
Our first trip to Costa Rica, beautiful country! Carlotta's Rancho is special and unique because of the open air, organic, minimal life style. Natural beauty everywhere. The vista is a "work of art" from a craftsman's perspective, excellently built. Extremely peaceful, relaxing, comfortable. A few days we did not even leave the property. Carlotta made sure we had directions and once arrived made sure we had everything we needed and that we were OK & Happy! Manague, the care taker, is a delight. He is helpful, kind, and has a great sense of humor. We cooked almost every meal at home, traveled the area to explore with ease (4X4 a must or motor cycle/ATV), visited the local open air restaurant on the beach two times, very friendly locals. A smile goes a long way! On the property are free range horses, chickens, dogs, a goat and a pig. We fell in love with them all! The dogs became our friends instantly, playful and protected the property nicely. They even napped outside the house daily. Carlotta has Gratitude/Peace Flags hanging, we certainly felt grateful and peaceful. We will return! Oh! There were fresh flowers on the table to welcome us. Nice touch.
My boyfriend and I stayed at Rancho Bella Vista for five nights and we absolutely loved it. It was exactly what we wanted, private, comfortable and immersed in nature. We were woken each morning by sunrise and a cacophony of birds, monkeys and a competitive rooster, to name a few. The pictures are very accurate, it's a very beautiful structure. The kitchen is well equipped, we cooked almost every meal there.
The location was perfect for us. It is a five minute drive (about 1.5km) from the gorgeous and quiet Manzanillo beach and a ten-fifteen minute drive to Santa Teresa. We were ten minutes from a great yoga class every morning and there's plenty more beaches and villages within half an hour driving. It was a great experience and we were sad to leave.
Finding the ranch was pretty easy, Carlotta gave us good instructions and Managua was there to greet us. He was there anytime we needed anything.
A couple of things to note. If you are planning on staying here, it would be best to have your own transport which would need to be 4x4. You will essentially be outside and while it's very comfortable and clean, you will be surrounded by animals. The living area is treated so there was no problem with insects. We loved being able to watch monkeys eating right outside. There are farm dogs who wander freely, they are very friendly, just make sure you spend a little time allowing them to get to know you as you would with any dog.
We would absolutely recommend Rancho Bella Vista, especially if you like the outdoors and are looking for a tranquil and memorable place to stay. It was the best part of our trip to Costa Rica.
The rancho bella vista is a fantastic place! We really enjoyed our stay, not too far from beaches and restaurants but really quiet and with an amazing view from the bedroom!
On an other hand, it has been quite difficult to find and if you are afraid by dogs, don't worry they are really nice. Try to get there before the nigth fall.
Take his shower outside with birds and lizards is awesome!
If you don't care about confort and love nature, it's the place to go.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The rancho is AMAZING! We stayed for a month and didn't want to leave! The pictures do not do justice for how special this property is!! The Rancho is tucked away in the jungle on top of the mountain with views to the ocean, which is just a 5-8 minute drive away. The Rancho is all open air and handmade with love, it has a little kitchen, where we cooked lots all of the time, and comfy dining chairs and table looking out to the sea. There is a full hammock and a hammock seat aswell as a wicker style long couch to relax on. The sleeping area is up the cute wooden stairs and has an opening to the sky to let breeze in. The rancho comes with lamps and a fan and mosquito net, aswell as blender for tropical smoothies and pots ñ pans and a fridge and toaster and a 2 ring gas stove. It's pretty perfect :) The best thing for us was being immersed in nature, waking up with the sunrise to the sound of the many jungle birds and monkeys and in the evening fling asleep to the sound of distant waves, crickets and frogs. The rancho has a small hobby farm with a pig, chickens, horse & foal, dogs, puppies, cats and veggie garden! We LOVED being able to feed the animals our compost everyday! The horse would come hang out with it's baby, and even the pig would snort when you said hello :) For us it was a very special and unique experience that we will cherish. Carlotta has such a warm energy and is really interesting and welcoming! She's also am awesome reggae singer!! Manaqua and Betty are the caretakers and spoilt us with cleaning up the rancho and helping with whatever we needed. Carlotta has a little boy who was super cute and friendly. The property is full of smiles and laughter all day long! I was able to get a massage at the rancho, aswell as get our laundry done and Carlotta also gave us some yummy honey. There is parking as you will need a car or quads, and a cool security gate but it's really secure and we didn't worry about our valuables for 1 second. At night the stars were so bright and after a full day of surfing Playa Hermosa beach just 5-8 mins away we'd enjoy a great sleep. Some great local places to eat like colouer cafe and kojis sushi, but so much more organic fresh yummy places to chose from. There is a local store and great markets on a Saturday. We have met some life long friends in playa hermosa and were lucky to have had a place we could feel at home in at the Rancho! You will love it!
Unfortunately this rancho did not meet our expectations. It was very far away from everything. (beach, restaurants, grocery market)
You certainly need a more detailed description how to find the place (GPS coordinates) and another phone number from the owner. We arrived a day late due to road closings and we couldn't reach anyone!
The outdoor toilet is basically a bucket with a surrounding box. It would have been nice to see a picture of the "bathroom" on airbnb to get a better impression.
You can see that someone put a lot of effort in this place - a lot of potential but simply not much taken care of.
Best about this place was Managua!
