My boyfriend and I had a great time staying with the White family. The house was in a great location, close to the Notre Dame campus. Our bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and clean. The family were all really nice and made us feel very welcome, making us coffee in the mornings and even giving us a ride downtown. Thanks for a great experience!
Pier and Kristen were flexible with my arrival time and helped me with some recommendations of places to stop and eat before I arrived. After showing me to my room, which was neat and clean with a comfy bed, they welcomed me back downstairs to watch some ND basketball with them. I got to meet some of their kids, all of whom were so sweet. All in all, an awesome experience - I felt like I was crashing with family.
Kristen and Pier were warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They made lunch for me and talked with me about the area, and that evening they drove me to a meeting on campus since it was so cold outside. The children are delightful and so polite, and the home itself is lovely, with large rooms, lots of books, and a gas fireplace. I was free to come and go as needed, and they conversed or gave me privacy as desired. It was a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommended!
Our stay at the White's home was a wonderful combination of feeling the warmth of the family, relaxing in a peaceful setting, and being close to places important to us. The home is lovely and their children so polite and accommodating. They were very flexible with our arrival and departure times. Would definitely stay again!
I was dropping my daughter off at N.D. and had a terrific 2 night stay with William (aka Pier) and Kristen and their 7 delightful children. Pier and Kristen both work at N.D., are A+ people and made us feel very welcome. Pier was very easy to deal with on booking and scheduling issues. I slept in one of the kid's room (the NYC mural room) which took me back in time but is consistent with the airbnb model that you're either up for or not.
On Friday night, they invited my daughter and I to join them for movie night and on Saturday offered us a pizza dinner. The house is close enough to campus for a healthy walk (which would be helpful on football weekends) but we drove as it was just easier. Yes, it is a full house so if you are a big privacy person this option (or the airbnb model in general) is probably not for you. Yet, we found the kids to be fun and we had good privacy and a private bathroom so there were no issues. Overall, a fun experience and a nice departure from a typical hotel room experience. We recommend staying with the Whites and will be back.
The Whites are warm and generous people. William and Kristen are courteous and hospitable, and their children are exceptionally well-behaved. We were made to feel welcome in the midst of their busy family life, even as our privacy was respected and we could come and go as we needed.
We highly recommend this home to anyone who cherishes Notre Dame/St. Mary's and family life. We hope to be able to stay there again next time we visit South Bend.
