Large bedroom suite in daylight basement with small refrigerator and microwave outside room and exclusive guest bathroom.
What you'll enjoy by staying here:
+ a large (17.5 x 10.5 feet), quiet, very private guest bedroom in our daylight basement.
+ exclusive access to a full bathroom on the same level as the guest bedroom.
+ a very comfortable queen bed with pillow top mattress and quality down comforter.
+ a full-size comfortable couch with down and foam cushions (with cushions removed, the couch makes a comfy bed for anyone 5'7" or shorter, or side sleepers, and can serve as a bed for a third guest, if needed).
+ a small laptop with a guest account and reliable wifi.
+ plenty of accessible, free parking (both on street and in the driveway).
+ a chest of drawers and hanging rod in case you'd like to unpack your bags.
+ a small kitchenette area featuring a small refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, induction cooktop, and dishes that you may use if you want to easily prepare light snacks; however, you can also use our kitchen and gas grill if you want to cook a more ambitious meal. Complimentary coffee/tea is also provided.
Our house is occupied by a married couple and three dogs; however, the guest bedroom has always been animal-free and the dogs are kept primarily on the main level away from guest amenities.
The basement level has a separate access and includes all of the necessities needed for a comfortable stay; however, guests are welcome to share any of the following features of our home with us:
+ Large full kitchen, dishes and cookware on the main level
+ Living room, which includes a piano and a cast iron stove (to keep the home cozy during the winter months
+ Media room with television (including Apple TV and Netflix), stereo, and Wii. We hardly ever use the TV, so access to the media room, (located adjacent to the guest bedroom) generally will be available as another private room for guests. The TV is HDMI-compatible, so if you'd like to hook up your computer and watch something from the internet, you're welcome to do so.
+ Large, private, fenced backyard with outdoor dining and two-person hammock in case you would like to relax outside.
+ Laundry facilities are also available to longer term guests who are in need.
Tom is a Seattle-area native, and Corinne has lived here for nearly 20 years, so we're happy to provide local tips and advice, if guests are looking for recommendations. We both have traveled quite a bit and are also big fans of being AirBnB guests ourselves because we enjoy having the opportunity to chat with other travelers. However, if guests are too busy having fun to chat, or would prefer more privacy, our guest facilities will be a great choice since the guest bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette are on a separate floor from our main living space; furthermore, the stairs between the two floors are separated by a door, so if you're not a fan of dogs, you don't have too worry about one of our dogs intruding in your space. Guests can also use a separate entry to enter the guest quarters if they choose.
Much like New York City, Seattle is a city of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct personality. We live in Ballard, which has been called "the most soulful" neighborhood in Seattle. We think of it as the 21st arrondissement of Paris: the Farmers Market, the boutiques, the little coffee bars and boîtes. Our house is located one mile north of historic Ballard, close enough for a leisurely walk through this quaint, friendly neighborhood, and yet, far enough away to park easily and sleep undisturbed from others coming and going from all of the wonderful restaurants and bars this neighborhood has to offer!
More info about Ballard:
+ a 5-minute drive from Golden Gardens beach
+ a 20-minute drive from downtown
+ a charming neighborhood, home to dozens of quaint boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants featuring many different types of cuisines (French, Mediterranean, Greek, German, Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Japanese/Sushi, Chinese, Italian, English pub food, and many seafood options), parks, a theatre, salons/spa, grocery stores, a wonderful Sunday Farmers' Market and countless conveniences (be sure to check our Guidebook link at the upper right for some of our favorite recommendations).
Old Ballard, the historic neighborhood is nearby our house, only a 15-20 walk, or a 5-minute drive away, so the vibrant night-life is nearby even though our house is located in a quiet neighborhood.
+ Our house is located 3 blocks away from the bus to downtown Seattle in 20-30 minutes (on the #15, #18, or RapidRide D lines) - schedules can be found here: (website hidden) .
+ From the airport, SeaTac, you can take the Link Light Rail for about $2.50 and 40-minute ride to Westlake Center in downtown Seattle. We recommend a cab from there, as it will only be about $10 and a bit easier than the city bus if you have luggage. Once you book, we supply you with all the details for a smooth arrival!
Corinne was so fabulous about communications, and working with my flight delays. Their home is beautiful and cheery. Highly recommended.
It was great staying with Corinne and Tom. They were very accommodating. And also their dogs are all really sweet.
Loved staying with Corinne and Tom again! :)
Corinne & Tom were wonderful hosts and made my first airbnb experience a pleasurable one. Helpful and hospitable hosts, great location, friendly and fun group of pups, parking was easy, everything was positive.
My one-night stay with Tom and Corinne was wonderful! They have thought of everything a traveler could want - guide books, multiple mirrors, plenty of drawer space (if I was staying longer), rack for hanging clothes, fridge/microwave, coffee in the morning and much more. Very kind and accommodating couple. Very charming house, interesting books and fun art, great location, cute and well-behaved dogs - I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my first airbnb stay!
The room and host were delightful and exactly as the post described. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Seattle for a few days!
Corrine and Tom were incredibly warm and welcoming and went to so many lengths to ensure we felt at home. The room we stayed in was private, cozy and quiet and stocked full of helpful information about Ballard, Seattle and the surrounding areas--not to mention a great library of books that we took advantage of!
We really enjoyed chatting with them in the morning over the delicious coffee they offered us and loved petting their cute doggies.
I really fell in love with Ballard while we stayed there. Corrine and Tom's home is just a short walk to all the great restaurants, bars, cafes and boutiques that Ballard is home to. I would definitely stay with them again if we go back!!
We very much enjoyed our very brief stay at Corrine and Tom's! The space in their lovely house was private, clean, and comfy. We could walk to our cooking class at Delancey, it was even walkable to the other central part of Ballard, and parking was easy. We will definitely come again, hopefully for longer next time! Thanks greatly for your hospitality, Corrine and Tom!
I'll echo everything else that has been said about this listing. It is a wonderfully quiet and private space. The room is in the basement separate from the main house and it is a great spot for a good night's sleep. The bed really is as comfortable as everyone touts it to be.
Corrine and Tom were very welcoming and I would recommend them as hosts for anyone looking to visit the area.
Corinne and Tom were such great hosts. They are super helpful and friendly. One of the best AirBnB experiences in Seattle to-date!
The room was extra clean and comfy. The location was pretty close to Ballard. Would definitely stay again.
