Everything about this trip was great. Getting there & checking in were a breeze. Mike's awesome -- he built the place himself, and it is beautiful. He gave loaned us snowshoes and indicated where to go. The trails were a nice combo of scenery, solitude, nature, exercise & relaxation. We loved it. He also gave us great eating recommendations: Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock (I will go back there. It was SO good) & Harpoon Brewery in Windsor (Long Thaw IPA on tap mmmm). The wood stove kept us warm, the bed was cozy & comfy, and the water was hot. He mentioned that we needed to be mindful of how much water we used, but we didn't end up cooking in the cabin (just made coffee) and we're from drought-ridden California, so efficient showers ain't no thing to us -- in short, there was plenty of water. We've got some land we're planning to build on when we get back to the west coast, so we got plenty of inspiration from Mike's beautiful cabin.
We had an amazing time staying in mikes cabin! It was so cozy and rustic. The small cabin was perfect for ourselves and our dog! The location was great and close to lots of great breweries and restaurants. We'd love to come back in the summer!
WOW. What a great place... Mike met us with a nice warm fire, explained the ins and the outs of this eco-friendly cabin, and was easy to reach when we needed more firewood or had a question. This place was like a cozy factory- note the wood stove, the candles, the very comfortable couch, and the even more comfortable loft bed. We also made some delicious dinners here, and followed some deer tracks up behind the cabin for a great snow shoe. Pure happiness for four days! Keep in mind that you will need to conserve water while you're here (i.e. short showers and smart dish washing), but if you can handle that, then sign yourself up! Bottom line: LOVED. IT. Thanks Mike & Family!
Our experience at the Cabin was interesting. My girlfriend, 2 pigs and I stayed for 3 nights. We read, watched movies, cooked, made a fire outside, and really enjoyed the peace and quiet away from the city. It was -7' F causing the water pipes to freeze- But Mike was helpful with what we needed to do to get them to heat up again (bring a hair dryer). Thanks for your help Mike!
My three girl friends and I had a wonderful stay at Mike's cabin. It was exactly as stated in the description and it was the perfect location for our girls' getaway weekend. The cabin and whole area was very quaint and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding neighborhoods as well as simply the backyard. One of Mike's neighbors came by on his snowmobile while we were sledding and went out of his way to make paths for us so could slide down the hill more easily. He also let us know that he created paths all throughout the woods that we got to experience using the two pairs of snowshoes at the cabin. Mike was a great host and even brought us more kindling late at night when we couldn't get our fire started. It was the perfect snowy weekend to enjoy Vermont and we will definitely be back!
Mike and his cabin are wonderful. We had a great time experiencing the cozy cabin in the midst of some pretty heavy snowfall. He even helped us get our car unstuck from the snow before we left. Great dude.
This cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway! Mike was very friendly, had a fire going when we got there, and explained everything about the cabin to us. The cabin is very cozy and in a great location. We enjoyed using the snow shoes that were provided to explore the surrounding woods and scenery. Highly recommended!

A Vermont transplant originally from North Carolina. I love living in Vermont, especially in the winter. If I am not creating or building something I like to be biking, snowboarding or out flying. When the day is done I enjoy hanging out with family and friends with a good bottle of something and cooking up a feast.
