Interaction with Guests
We will be there to give keys and show you around. There are lots of family members 5 minutes away in town so if we are away at work etc there'll be someone to assist you.
This area is a beautiful part of rural Ireland. The coast is just 20 minutes drive away. If you like food and the sea this is the place for you! The area is famous for its gastronomy: the renowned restaurants of Clonakilty and Bantry are both 25 mins drive away and Kinsale is about 35 minutes. What I love most is taking walks around the coastline. We are close to Skibbereen, Baltimore, Schull, Sheep's Head and Courtmacsherry. Glengariff, Castletownbere and the Beara Way are a scenic hour's drive away . You can take day trips to Sherkin island or Dursey. Killarney and its beautiful lakes are also an hour's drive from here. My personal favourite is Gougane Barra (30 mins drive away) its church by the lake and the walks in the National park there. A favourite with the children are the sand dunes in Inchadoney.
There is trout fishing in local rivers and lakes just 10 minutes away.
Dunmanway town itself is a great place to go for a drink in the evening, and only a walk away so you don't have to drive. You can also play pitch and putt on the local golf course and there is a swimming pool and playground too.
If you are interested in Irish history, we are nearby the site of the Kilmichael ambush and 30 minutes from Michael Collins' birthplace and the Béal na Blath Memorial.
There is a bus service to Bantry and Cork city. To explore the area it would advisable to have a car.

Mags ha sido muy atenta con nosotros
We didn't meet Mags but she was always very responsive. Thanks to her clear directions to the house, we had no trouble at all finding it, which was much appreciated since we didn't have a sat nav :)
Anne was at the house to meet us and she was absolutely adorable and very helpful - she even brought us homemade bread and scones when we had troubles with the dryer.
The house is big and comfortable and we didn't lack anything.
Mags and her family were very welcoming, helpful and accommodating, and there were lots of perks for the kids like a go-cart and use of neighbouring field. The house was comfortable and welcoming, and everyone enjoyed their stay. The location had all the spaciousness and tranquillity of the countryside with all the conveniences of being close to the town centre.
Mags' place was very spacious and Dunmanway was a good relaxing place to stay for a few nights. Sweet location! Too bad the trampoline wasn't for adults.
We had a really enjoyable stay in Mags' house. Everything went very smoothly with key pickup etc. Mags couldn't be more helpful. The house itself is very clean and comfortable with everything you need provided. The area is quiet and the children enjoyed the garden (with go-cart/trampoline). There is a local pool, playground and tennis courts (five minute walk from house) if you want to stay local for an afternoon. It is a bit of a drive to the coast (about 25/30 minutes to the nearest beach in Roscarbery) but we enjoyed the adventure of finding hidden treasures along the way. The house is an ideal base for exploring beautiful west cork. We were very happy with the house and with Mags as a host...thank you ;0)
Mags and Sean we're very kind. They were easy to communicate with and very helpful when it came to locating the cottage and meeting us to settle in! The cottage was a great location for our group. We were able to travel all around that area of Ireland without ever having to drive too far.
The cottage had a very cozy living area with a fire place which we spent a lot of time in and thoroughly enjoyed each night after arriving back from a long day of exploring.
We would recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a great jump off location and a place to come back and relax in the evenings.
About the Host, Mags
I am a visual artist and I recently returned to Ireland after 15 years so travelling is very much part of my life. My partner spent almost 10 years in Asia and Australia so we love meeting other travellers. West Cork is a beautiful part of Ireland best known for it's landscape and great food and a place I love to spend time in. Between us we have 5 children so the house is very much a child-friendly place. There is a closed garden with a trampoline, go-karts, bikes and table and chairs as well as closed off run for any family pets. Don't hesitate to contact me to ask any other questions about us or the house.
