This comfortable cottage is situated in the heart of West Cork on quiet country road in Dunmanway, 10 min walk from shops, pubs and restaurants etc. Ideal for touring the area and visiting nearby Clonakilty, Bantry, Skibbereen, Inchadoney, Killarney
The cottage is rebuilt around an old stone structure. There are 4 bedrooms, one ensuite bedroom (with shower) and double bed. One bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. One bedroom with a double bed. One bedroom with a single bed.
There is a bathroom with a toilet downstairs.
The kitchen has a beautiful stone floor. There is a washing machine, dryer and a dishwasher.
The dining space is lovely and bright.
There is a large sitting room with a wood burning stove.
The garden goes all around the house. In the front there is grass and a large trampoline for children. On the side there is a picnic table and seats and lots of space. The garden is closed off with heavy wooden gates, so very safe for children to play in.
The only users of the road are a few other residents or walkers so it is very quiet and safe.
The guests have full access to the house. The only room off limits is a small downstairs office which remains locked.
We will be there to give keys and show you around. There are lots of family members 5 minutes away in town so if we are away at work etc there'll be someone to assist you.
This area is a beautiful part of rural Ireland. The coast is just 20 minutes drive away. If you like food and the sea this is the place for you! The area is famous for its gastronomy: the renowned restaurants of Clonakilty and Bantry are both 25 mins drive away and Kinsale is about 35 minutes. What I love most is taking walks around the coastline. We are close to Skibbereen, Baltimore, Schull, Sheep's Head and Courtmacsherry. Glengariff, Castletownbere and the Beara Way are a scenic hour's drive away . You can take day trips to Sherkin island or Dursey. Killarney and its beautiful lakes are also an hour's drive from here. My personal favourite is Gougane Barra (30 mins drive away) its church by the lake and the walks in the National park there. A favourite with the children are the sand dunes in Inchadoney.
There is trout fishing in local rivers and lakes just 10 minutes away.
Dunmanway town itself is a great place to go for a drink in the evening, and only a walk away so you don't have to drive. You can also play pitch and putt on the local golf course and there is a swimming pool and playground too.
If you are interested in Irish history, we are nearby the site of the Kilmichael ambush and 30 minutes from Michael Collins' birthplace and the Béal na Blath Memorial.
There is a bus service to Bantry and Cork city. To explore the area it would advisable to have a car.
We speak English, French, German and Thai.
