About This Listing
We are located in the beautiful Mare Island in Vallejo, CA. This safe and quiet neighborhood is about 20 minutes from the Wine Country (Napa/Sonoma) and 40 minutes from SF. We have two guest bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to three people (or four a bit snugly).
This listing is unique because the neighborhood is just gorgeous and peaceful. In addition, we are located close to Napa, several golf courses, Six Flags, several Outlets, Sonoma (Sears Point) Race Track, and San Francisco. A truly sweet location.
We also have free parking!
Guests have access to the private bedrooms, bathroom, half bath, kitchen, living room, laundry area, and garage (where we keep the bicycles, elliptical, yoga mat, weights, etc). We also have a grill outside and guests can barbecue - if desired.
If we are receiving more than 2 guests, the additional guests (up to 2 more, total of 4 people) can use an additional guest bedroom which has a futon and an optional airbed.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat and to make new friends, but will respect your space and privacy.
What I love about the neighborhood is how friendly the neighbors are. This place is very pretty, safe and quiet. Mare Island is an old naval base, so there's a lot of history to it. We also have the Mare Island Golf Club, the oldest course west of the Mississippi.
There is a Ferry and a bus that connect Mare Island to SF, and Napa is just a short drive away (about 20 minutes).
We are located across the Bay from San Francisco. Driving to The City takes about 45 minutes without traffic. There's a bus that connects Vallejo to SF as well. You can catch it at the Ferry Terminal.
Please note that we do not have public transportation on the island, so we highly recommend that you have a vehicle available.
You can park for free at my job in Oakland and take Bart to SF. This way you'll save on the Bay Bridge toll and won't have to worry about parking in SF (it can be pricey and difficult to find a spot).

We had a wonderful time staying with Thais and George!!! Even though it was only one night, and we had to leave early to go to the racetrack, it was very very comfortable and cozy. WiIl definitely come back again!!
Also, George made us the most amazing coffee in the morning :) Thank you George!!! :)
Thais is super welcoming and her house is very nice and clean. The house is exactly what she described on the website. The neighborhood is nice and quite. I feel very welcomed by Thais and George. Great Stay!
Yes, it's all true. A charming home with friendly and helpful hosts. Thais and George made us feel welcome and their home is really nice. I am here working on Mare Island, so the location was very convenient and the neighborhood is both walkable and very pleasant. The house is uber clean and they work hard keeping it that way. One thing I especially appreciated is that Thais has an organic garden and shared her spring crop with us. We arrived as guests and part as friends.
This was a great experience. The home was very convenient to wine country, with the peaceful beauty of Mare Island. The home was very clean, neat, and organized. George and Thais were very gracious hosts. They offered to make us breakfast the following morning, however we had other plans, so we just had coffee - which was great New Orlean's style Cafe Du Monde coffee!
Thais and George were very welcoming and made me feel right at home! Their home was comfortable and really clean. Mare Island itself is quite and relaxing, don't expect much to eat around the area but they have a nice kitchen available and Napa and San Francisco are both a short drive away.
Georgie and Thais very welcomed us. All living spaces were very clean and tidy and their couple made us felt very comfortable like home. However I think 2 people staying is the best for the house. For a 4 people family, the rooms are bit small.
About the Host, Thais
I'm Brazilian, pretty easygoing and will do my best to have our guests feel welcome. I am a Soc major at UC Berkeley and work as an Administrative Manager at MaestroConference.
It may be biased of me, but my hometown (Florianopolis) is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and I recommend a trip there.
Five things that I cannot live without are my books, leave-in conditioner, sunscreen, work, and going to church (not exactly in this order). George, my husband, is not listed here because he's not a thing (but he is the most amazing guy I know and I couldn't live without him either).
Here are a few other things that I recommend:
BOOKS: "100 Years Of Solitude", and "Slavery by Another Name"
MOVIES: "District 9", and "Miss Ever's Boys"
TV SHOWS: "The Big Bang Theory", and "The X Files"
MUSIC: "Tamela Mann", and "Amy Winehouse"
FOOD: Indian, Mexican, and Thai - yum!
Having me as host means that you have someone you can count on. I will make sure that you feel as comfortable in our home as if it was your own.
I don't have a set life motto but I am a firm believer of doing what's right.
As Dr. King once said, "I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear."

Enjoy your trip!

Really good Puerto Rican food.
They have live music.
This is just a fun place to go. A "must" if it's your first time here.
They even let you touch the fish! Really cool!
This is a really cool place in SF.
The Coit Tower has a prime view of the city.
The view is simply gorgeous at the bottom of the bridge on the SF side.
The most crooked street in the world!
My favorite Mexican restaurant. Just a hole in the wall, but really good food.
Beautiful building. I've never been inside it, to be honest, but you can take great pic here.
The best steak house you'll ever try
Another must-see, beautiful place in SF.
They make my favorite ice-cream: Caramelized banana. Yum! And it's by Dolores Park (in the Castro), a super "San Franciscan" location.
This garden is so tranquil and beautiful - definitely a must see!
Wine cellar; great wine.
You HAVE to go check their ice-cream creations out. They are great!
They have several stores is the Vacaville Outlet, for all tastes and budgets
