This charming cottage is located in Glenville, NC, close to Cashiers, Lake Glenville, and Sawyer Family Farmstead. The main level has an open kitchen/ living room, a large bathroom with a shower, and a covered back deck. The bedroom is upstairs in the peaked roof loft. Now comes with the use of two kayaks! You have to be able to transport them yourselves.

The space
We called this the Charming Cottage because it looks like something from a fairy tale. You know Goldilocks would have found this cottage to be just right even with the bear painting on the front porch. The cabin features wide plank flooring with a distressed finish, post and beam construction with cute decorative corbels, and a loft bedroom straight from an alpine chalet.

The main floor is an open kitchen/ living room with an island eating station. Or you can pull out the TV tray next to the loveseat to properly veg out while streaming movies. The surprising large and recently renovated bathroom is just off the living room. If you want an outdoor experience, sit on the back deck and watch the fireflies in the summer nights.

The queen bed is located upstairs in a loft with a steeply pitched roof. I added tape lighting to give it a properly tent-like effect. There is a window a/c unit up there since heat rises and that tin roof can really warm up on a summer day. And there is a cozy rug and fuzzy blanket for cool winter nights.

Guest access
This cabin shares the backyard with my house. Please let us know if you want to use the backyard.

Free use of two kayaks at your own risk and transport. You will need a vehicle to transport them to the lake.

Other things to note
There are some challenges to living in the mountains. Number one is cell phone coverage. There is Verizon cell phone coverage at the cabins, but not really any other providers. You can get coverage if you go into Cashiers, or you could use it as an excuse not to answer your phone. Meanwhile you might want to make sure you have directions and check in instructions before you head out.

We do have DSL internet (with WiFi) speeds around 6 mbps. That means you can stream movies, yay! Which is good, because we don’t have cable or any antenna television stations (sorry no sports). The tv has a Roku streaming device which allows you to watch any of your favorite streaming subscriptions. If you don’t have any such accounts, there are also some free streaming channels (with commercials) on the Roku. Let me know if you have any questions about these new fangled devices.

Location

Glenville, North Carolina, United States

This cabin is one of four unique cabins on our property that we rent out through Airbnb. The main house, where we live, is central to all four cabins. This cabin and one other are right next to our house, and two are across the creek next to our (soon to be) art gallery and an Airstream Camper.

Our wee village of tiny houses is located in the bustling community of Glenville and on the main thoroughfare from Sylva to Cashiers. That means there is road noise, especially during commuting hours.

This cabin is conveniently located to lake activities, hiking, wedding venues, tree farms, waterfalls, shopping, and restaurants.
