April and Ken were consummate hosts; they made us feel incredibly welcomed to the Big Easy and went above and beyond to make our first visit flawless. Having stayed at a few airbnb's now, it's hard to find hosts who continue to raise the bar. April and Ken are those people. In addition to their genuine warmth, the unit is quite close to key areas (Frenchman, French Quarter and a bike ride to Magazine etc...). Note that the unit comes with two amazing cruiser bikes and locks included in the rental. Alone, they would be $40/day throughout the city to rent. Added bonus! We would gladly stay here again.
We arrived on a day of record rainfall which was difficult but the instructions for getting into our apt were perfect and it is exactly as described and pictured. Really nice. I especially loved the upstairs, many windows and french doors to a balcony.
Buses run about every 1/2 hour on Esplanade and we used them quite a bit in rainy times but the bikes were ideal for getting around, both for congested areas and sight seeing.
We saw Ken every now and then. He is an amiable and helpful person. Just great! It's easy to reach him on his cell phone.
The apt is generously stocked with coffee, olive oil, salt & pepper etc. We found a market we liked, Canseco's, several blocks north on Esplanade. There are also restaurants and a coffee shop there.
It was quite easy to commute to attractions from the apt and we really enjoyed the quietness of the neighborhood.
A really nice place to stay.
April & Ken are very sweet and the guesthouse is gorgeous. A bit of a squeeze with 4 people -- there's a bed & a pull-out couch -- but both were comfy, the bathroom was clean, there was closet space available and the kitchen well-appointed for cooking (Ken showed us how to work the grill and gave us hot sauce, yum). The courtyard is so pretty, with a working hot tub. We also loved walking up & down Esplanade & exploring Treme.
Staying here was perfect! Ken came out and met us and shared some good tips on places in the area. The place looks just like the pictures, and all the artwork was beautiful. Super convenient location, only about ten minutes by bike from the French Quarter (the bikes are such a great touch!) All in all, we loved it and would definitely return and recommend!
April and Ken's apartment was a perfect base of operations for our first visit to New Orleans. The unit was private, clean, comfortable, and quiet. We did not meet the owners but they responded promptly to texts. They supplied a great list of eateries and things to do. It was about a 15-20 minute walk down Esplanade to the French Quarter. There are many beautiful, historic homes along Esplanade. The apartment is north of the I-10 and while the area near the I-10 is a little rough around the edges, we did not feel unsafe walking there during the day. We usually took a cab home at night (about $7-8). The hosts graciously allowed us to store our luggage in the main house foyer after checkout. We LOVED New Orleans and would definitely stay here again.
April and Ken were very welcoming and the place itself is very clean and close to the French Qtr.
April and Ken are great hosts. They were very accommodating to all of our requests, and they responded quickly to all of our messages.
My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed staying in their guest house on our trip to New Orleans. The guest house was spacious, clean, quiet, and perfectly located. They let us borrow their bikes which saved us tons of money on transportation. We used the bikes to explore the French Quarter and the Garden District as well as City Park. For us, having access to the bikes was the greatest perk of this place.
We also appreciated that the room had a washer and dryer and that all of the appliances were new and worked well. The guest house is extremely well-constructed. It is the only building that I've ever been in with a wooden staircase without a single creaky step.
This guest house is an amazing value, and I would highly recommend staying here.

We are a recently married, young professional couple who now considers NOLA our heart and our home! We both are transplants and absolutely love everything about the Big Easy! We live on the historic Esplanade Ave, but love every single part of this city, from Uptown to the Marigny! We can give you great advice on where to site see, shop, bar-hop, find great eats, or guide you to hidden jewels off the beaten path for some extra local flavor! Our dream vacation begins in Greece and ends in Vanuatu...
