About this listing
This warm flat located in a cool downtown commercial building where you could have everything you want just a short stroll downstairs is convenient and classy. Enjoy yoga, gourmet foods, the spa and sunsets and never leave home! Oh, but the beach...
Beautiful flat located in the historic company store in the heart of Fort Bragg, CA. This apartment has two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds, two bathrooms with a sauna and a large Jacuzzi bathtub in one. There is a full kitchen with stove and range. It is the perfect place for someone who wants to be close enough to the beach to walk, but also directly in town to experience the boutique shops and restaurants that Fort Bragg has to offer.
The building is known for housing the internationally recognized raw food culinary institute LIVING LIGHT CULINARY ARTS INSTITUTE. This building also has local fine dining with Mendo Bistro, a coffee shop, spa, and beautiful bar. Also a yoga sudio and a bike shop for the active. Whether you want to get a massage, get out and be active or have champagne and oysters you are fully taken care of!
Also, No Divers please, we do not have any outside room to hang wet suits and it can be pretty messy in the house.
Interaction with Guests
We don't live in the area and have a house cleaner that gets the place ready for you and cleans up after you for the next guests. Please let us know if you need anything and we will call her to help us out.
We love being able to pick up our latte in the morning and head out to enjoy our walks and bike rides by the ocean. Knowing all the while that when we get home we can eat a healthy salad, get a massage, have a cocktail and a great dinner and not have to leave the building! If we really want to relax and leave the sweats on we can call in a pizza at Piacchis across the street and stay in with a movie.
No smoking inside. No Wetsuits/Divers Please!
No more than six people will stay at the house due to ordinance of the city.
Relax and enjoy yourself ;-)
Everything regarding this flat was accurate and perfect for our vacation! We were so happy with the privacy and the comfort of this unique home! I am looking forward to another stay here very soon!
Thank You Dana!

The apartment was great! It is actually more spacious than the photos depict. We loved the location, very convenient to everything the town has to offer. We will definitely stay here again.
There are good things about this apartment. The location in the heart of Ft. Bragg’s downtown with restaurants and shops is great. It is relatively quiet most of the day and at night. The apartment is well equipped with kitchen appliances, linens, etc. But there are some downsides. First, this is not by any definition a “Bed and Breakfast”. There is no breakfast and this is a stand-alone apartment off by itself upstairs in the very back of a commercial building. Parking is convenient, but situated behind a large propane tank and right next to the trash containers for the building, including the cooking school. The biggest issue is the views from all the windows of the apartment. To the south is a very busy parking lot and a business; to the north is the Skunk train and a little-used railroad yard; to the east is an expanse of the rooftops of the rest of the building; and to the west is a distant view of the ocean and a bay that would be nice to walk by—but you can’t go there. Dominating the view is a twelve foot high fence surrounding an open field that has been closed off due to “hazardous substances”. It is described by the California Department of Toxic Substance Control as containing “petroleum hydrocarbons, dioxins/furans, metals and other contaminants detected in remaining areas of the former mill site." To access the beach you walk toward the north end of town and then cut around the fenced area.
Further, the fenced in area is lit by bright lights that shine into the apartment all night. (Very heavy curtains keep this from being a problem in the bedrooms.) A large, abandoned rail building with windows broken out and a few rusting rail cars lies just beyond the fence from the apartment; below the window is another rusty car. We spent our month in the apartment with the shades pulled up from the bottom so we could look at the sky but not the views below.
Though this is a two bedroom, two bath apartment, persons in the second bedroom must walk through the other bedroom to the bath. It is not arranged so that two couples would each have a bed/bath combination. It’s best for two people or a family.
A short stay in this apartment would be great for visiting Ft. Bragg, or for someone working locally. But for a longer vacation, we found it comfortable but unattractive.
Dana was so nice. She was easy to communicate with and promptly answered my questions. She made sure we were comfortable and everything was as stated in the description of the home. Would stay there again!
The apartment was clean, cozy, and in the perfect location. Extremely easy to walk to cafes and restaurants. The gas fireplace kept us toasty and warm as the temps dropped in the evening. There is a surprising amount of room in the apartment, so plenty of space for a group of four to hang out. The hosts also provided great recommendations to try in the neighborhood.
Dana's apartment was nice, clean, light, and big enough to spread out and get comfortable. I especially liked having a full kitchen with utensils available. The location is great. It's right in the center of Fort Bragg and everything is close enough to walk to. Dana was easy to communicate with and I had no issues at all.
Dana made us feel extremely welcome with the great dinner recommendations close by, prompt response to my last minute booking and clear instructions on how to get to the apartment. My wife and I and out two boys really loved the great view out to the ocean as well as the ample space inside the apartment. In spite of being steps from Main St. the nights were quiet and comfortable. My boys are already asking when we can go back.
