About this listing
in the heart of Guanajuato, GTO, Mexico. Guanajuato is one of the most beautiful colonial cities anywhere and has been called the most European of Mexican cities. This home is right in the center of everything yet private , gracious and welcoming after a day of exploring the many treats Guanajuato has to offer. There is wi fi, a dock for MP3 players, and a roof terrace with a second kitchen, trees, furniture and the beautiful bedroom looking out at the mountains. Though there are many places that are less expensive this very special location where most everything is available on flat ground and close to home makes up for the price difference to many people. We hope you will consider a stay with us. You can be sure it will be a unique experience and one which could give you a real sense of what life was like 200 years ago without sacrificing your comfort in any way.
We have no rules per se. We hope you will throughly enjoy yourselves. You will share the house with 3 canaries that will be taken care of by the housekeeper.
We have stayed in many beautiful places in colonial Mexico but this home is by far our favorite. The owners have created a very special residence and it felt like a privilege to share that experience. The first thing you notice is its location across from the elegant, baroque Tempolo de San Francisco. The church glows with warm light at night and there are grand views of its neoclassical towers and the city from the home’s spectacular rooftop terrace.
The home was restored in 2009 from its colonial origins with obvious attention to layout, design, and gracious living. There are three levels: an entry, main floor, and rooftop terrace. Each level has every possible amenity a guest would need. For those who can’t live without technology there is WiFi and a big screen TV with Netflix in the sala.
The house is beautifully appointed throughout with folk and fine art. It has two well-equipped kitchens, two nicely designed bathrooms (one with an outdoor shower), and two bedrooms with comfortable beds. The home would be appropriate for one or two couples. A housekeeper comes every other day to keep things tidy and two canaries are resident in the courtyard.
Our host, Annie Smith, was responsive to our inquiries and made us feel very welcome. We feel fortunate to have found this special place and hope to return.

About the Host, Annie
My husband and I live in Guanajuato all year round and love it. We travel from time to time and like to make our home available during these times. We will be gone this year from June 12th to the end of July and are offering our home for only 64 dollars a night for the whole time. This is a big drop in price. We will also be gone from Mid December until almost the end of January. Contact us for prices for that time. We usually leave during Easter and after for awhile. All are lovely times to be here. In fact there are no bad times to be here. This is a magical city and puts many people under it's spell. We have two (website hidden) I used to own a restaurant. The upstairs kitchen is outdoors and has become our "breakfast kitchen" as our bedroom is on the terraza level.. . We are within walking distance of pretty much everything and we offer a tranquil oasis in the convenience and excitement of downtown. I am a poet and writer. My husband is a digital inventor. We love it here.
