The Neighborhood

The house is set in a tiny hamlet perched in the heart of the Parc Régional du Haut Languedoc, away from everything noisy and unpleasant, but at the same time with modern conveniences The neighborhood consists of four small hamlets perched on a mountain -each with fewer that 10 houses- that constitute the neighborhood. There are locals and "imports" from elsewhere in France and Northern Europe who moved into the area a number of years ago. People enjoy getting together for "apéritifs". Generally an extremely quiet and peaceful place.

Guests will enjoy the unusual quiet and the wild, overgrown forests around. There is wonderful hiking in the Espinouse and the Caroux. Convenient for day trips to historical places such as Carcassonne, Montpellier, Mazamet, Albi, Narbonne, Béziers, La Couvertoirade, Roquefort, and numerous small towns and villages with farmers markets, medieval streets, and churches.

Getting Around

The closest SNCF train station is in Bédarieux, about 25 km East. There is a bus service from Montpellier to St. Pons de Thomières, stopping 6 km from the hamlet. However, it is best to have an automobile. Public transportation, baker, grocer, greengrocer, and pharmacy are 6 km from the hamlet. A butcher truck with all types of meats and charcuterie does visit the village on Thursdays.
