3 Bedroom Japanese house in downtown Tokyo walking distance from Harajuku, Yoyogi Park and Shibuya. 3 min walk to convenient train lines to explore the rest of the city. There is one private room available for rent on the first floor with access to living room, kitchen and bathroom on second floor.
During your stay you can expect to have all the comforts of home. A lot more relaxing than a small Japanese hotel room. There is a single bed and small Ikea pull-out couch in the room for rent that you can see in the pictures. There is a toilet on the first floor. You will have full use of the kitchen, living/dining room area and shower room located on the second floor. The master bedroom and owner's office is located on the third floor and is currently not available for rent.
***Please note, that the house is next to the train lines that run from 5am - midnight which may be bothersome if you are a light sleeper and going to bed early. If you're planning to be out sightseeing most of the day, dealing with jet lag, and sleep soundly than it probably won't be much of a problem***
There are grocery stores and restaurants close by and the popular tourist areas of Shibuya and Harajuku are within a 15min walk.
There are two major train lines, Chiyoda and Odakyu, within a 3min walk that can easily get you to anywhere else in the city.
This house was the home of Chikara CrossFit until moving into a fully dedicated studio 10mins away.
Great place to stay! Slept two comfortably. I recommend this place, it is convenient to get to Shibuya square or the shinjuku area. Having Yoyogi park right there is perfect too, great in the mornings.
The apartment of Michael's was in a good location very close to the subway. Although the railway tracks were outside our window that didn't bother us. We were so exhausted from the day that we didn't notice the noise. Unfortunately the biggest problem was that our room was freezing cold. It made it very hard to get up / go to sleep. Michael did not explain if there was heating nor that there was an extra blanket if we were cold. Also, the bed is also quite small for two people and we were not told how the shower works. Overall it's a great location and the room / bathroom is decent. Just wish the room was warmer.
The apartment is absolutely perfect! Michael and his girlfriend are really easy going! The house is very near of Harajuku and Shibuya, very good to go walking. We really recommend this place, we will definitely come back!
Our experience in Michael's house was excellent !
The house is pretty, refined and clean. The house is just next to railway (but Michael warned us so we brought earplugs) but after a walking day in the city, it was not too hard to sleep.
The area is quiet and really near for market, restaurants and subway station (Harajuku 15 mn, Shibuya 20mn). Excellent value ! We'll come again :)
Mike was a fantastic host: not overbearing at all, but provided lots of helpful advice when requested. And the apartment was a great jumping-off point for seeing the city. It's a short walk to the Tokyo Metro, and a slightly longer (~20 min.), but quite pleasant, walk to Shibuya Crossing.
The room is on the ground floor, just steps from the front door, so it's easy to come and go as early/late as you like without worrying about being a nuisance. Trains pass very close to the window, but (a) there's a curtain, so privacy isn't a concern, and (b) they stop running between midnight-ish and 5am-ish. If anything, it was a good incentive to spend all day exploring the city.
We had a great stay with Michael. He was very helpful giving guidance on where to go and how to get there. The house was clean and we felt very welcome.
The room was private as it's on the first floor of the house. The trains were constantly going by our window but it really didn't bother us.
This apartment is a great location for exploring Tokyo!
Thanks for the great stay!
I had an awesome time, I spent 4 nights there it is so close to everything you can walk everywhere. The place is super private it's not really like staying at someone's house. There are some really great restaurants close by and really cute shops. The instructions on how to get there were really helpful too.
Lovely, clean apartment, 5 mins from metro station and very convenient to get to Shinjuku & other parts of Tokyo. Noise from trains didn't disturb my sleep.
Staying at Michael's place was a great choice for Tokyo, location is perfect to discover the city, just a few blocs from Yogi Park, Shibuya and Shinjuku. Michael is very easy-going and relaxed, the place is clean and the house is spacious. The only downside is the noise from the train tracks - it's extremely loud during public transport running hours and people who want to get a good night's sleep should maybe look somewhere else - but then there are better things in Tokyo to do than to sleep, right!?
Staying with Michael and Nao was a great experience. They were both very friendly and open about sharing their house with us, as well as accommodating with us returning late every night from our adventures.
The room was nicely furnished with everything we needed, including its own air conditioning, and having a bathroom right outside the door was a nice creature comfort to have. The only downside is that the whole house is right next to the train tracks, so if you're woken easily by them going by it will be a problem, I didn't find it to be though. Other than that the house is in a great location, close to the train station itself for a short trip to get into Shinjuku (and from there all other major areas of Tokyo), as well as a short walk to groceries, convenience stores, and restaurants. It was even only a 20 minute walk into Harajuku for shopping and people watching.
If you're looking for a place to stay in Tokyo this is definately a good place to stay.
