FROM FORBES MAG TOP 10 LIVABLE CITIES:
Although Portland is well known as a city that is friendly to bicyclists, it also has a walkable and attractive downtown that offers a wide variety of cultural options and commercial options. There’s a vibrant and active arts scene, great food on both the high and low ends, the country’s best selection of locally sourced craft beers, an attractive and popular riverside park, and Powell’s, the largest and one of the best independent bookstores in the country. And while you can, with some effort walk around much of Portland’s relatively small downtowns, its best to mike like a local and rent a bike – you’ll get around more effectively, see more of the area, and get a little exercise – all good things in the greenest of “America’s 50 Greenest Cities.”

Beautiful condo in a fantastic location! Cindy was extremely responsive and available for questions and information at any time. Entrance to the building was easy and secure, even though we arrived later at night. We loved being able to walk out the door and right to all the sites and spots for food and drink. The condo has all the amenities you'd need - a lovely kitchen and living space if you wanted to cook at home or relax - though we spent most of our time exploring the city! Just a few blocks out the door was the Pearl District, with some great shopping and dining options. Would highly recommend staying here for your trip!
Cindy and I had great communication through the trip. She made sure I had all the information I needed upon arrival, checked in with me after the first night, and was around if I had any questions. The apartment was awesome and in a great location for my needs. I was attending a conference in downtown Portland. I could walk to most everything in about 10-15 minutes. Huge plus! Place was quiet and awesome on the inside. Will definitely be hitting Cindy up if I ever travel back to Portland.
The apartment was clean and exactly as described. Nice, quiet building in good location. We had a very comfortable stay.
The space was very clean and exactly as described. The apartment is perfectly located and we loved how walk-able the area is. Absolutely love Portland. Cindy was available by text the whole trip and it was easy to get settled in. It is a very urban location, so if an occassional homeless person is going to weird you out, this might not be the place for you. Also, it is right next to a transit center that has trains going by ALL night. It is not quiet. We did opt to sleep with the windows open instead of AC, so it may be more quiet if you choose AC. The noise was the only issue though and we would stay here again on our next trip.
Cindy was a great host, very prompt and easy to communicate with. The place was as pictured. Great layout with a fun design aesthetic and in a great, walkable location. I will definitely be staying with Cindy on my next visit to PDX.
We had a great stay at Cindy's super-stylish loft. The location was central to everything, the kitchen was well stocked, and the furniture was extremely comfortable. Thanks for making our vacation easy and fun!
Bad location, rough neighborhood. I didn't feel all that safe walking around because it would typically be me and someone pretty sketchy and that's it, alone on the street together. The problem is that it's both by the Union Station and the Greyhound station, which also means that train horns will be going off.
The place itself is nice enough, though the living room lights had some kind of electrical problem that made them blink on and off, and it was so dusty (or something) in the bedroom that I had to take antihistamines to fall asleep.
For the price I would try to find a different area of town.
hi john!!!! the location is not "rough" but definitely city living at its finest, with colorful people, events, and businesses, just like areas of the pearl and nw alphabet districts.... its called having a sense of street smarts and savvy that you need, which obviously you do not possess?! maybe this is the first time to a city center or metro area?
regarding the lighting and the dust...both those issues have been addressed. thank you for the notes! though you are publicly displaying something that is a minor issue and kind of obnoxious being aired here don't you think?
john never mentioned any of these issues BTW, and as i wrote to him before reading this in its entirety...i would have granted him a refund if he had expressed his concerns to me during his travels.
please ask me more if you are concerned. i live in this area as a single woman with a 10 year old child and i have had no run ins or issues to speak of. the area is considered "old town" and 3 blocks from the pearl district proper....
