Brooks and his family are TERRIFIC hosts! Always prompt to respond to any query and very supportive. The neighborhood is great; nice local market just a block down Grandview, many places to grab a quick bite or a full meal that far as well; Starbucks for morning coffee and Luna for afternoon, along with a great winebar. You can walk to the Case Western Reserve Univ. campus from here, or if you drive be there in two-shakes of a lamb's tail! Great 'Little Italy' restaurants within a couple of miles.
The suite is spacious, yet cozy, and impeccably clean. Do be expecting a vintage residence experience [washing your dishes 'the old-fashioned way' along with a classic wood floor] rather than ultra-modern ... but with WiFi! :-) Street parking is safe, though at times can be competitive.
500 words or LESS…ugh, okay, here goes! 11 nights spent here. Dotting landlords yes. Not good when you don’t want to dotted over. 11 nights with one towel per person, the same set of sheets, one roll of paper towels, and one roll of toilet paper. Some say Louisiana is backward. In Louisiana, you cannot use an extension cord to run an AC unit. We call that a fire hazard. I closed the bathroom door one morning and the entire door knob came off in my hand. Does he have washer and dryer accommodations, yes. 1.25 to wash your one towel and sheets unless you chose to sleep on them and wash with the same. However, please know that when you go to put your clothes in the dryer (1.25 as well), you will need to use the mop handle and rubber mallet that Brooks showed us to use to make the machine accept your coins. Comical, yes. Exasperating, absolutely.
The first day, flying in, I kept in touch with Brooks to let him know that we would be delayed, much delayed, three hours delayed. No sweat was Brooks’ response. I messaged when landing in Cleveland. Let me know when you are 15 minutes away. Taxi driver tells me 15 minutes away so I message brooks. It is 1:30 AM – no response. Taxi dropped us off. We called, we messaged………..no response. We slept on porch for an hour and 10 minutes. When Brooks showed up I was on hold with the Double Tree hotel. I was going to go there for the night and contact my family lawyer the next morning. Where was he? He lives on top of this unit. He was sleeping upstairs!!!! When he appeared on the porch and I complained, his response was: “you were late, I fell asleep!” My friend jumped in front to calm the tensions because I would have said, “I pay you, you don’t pay me, SIR!”
In the end, do I recommend this unit? YES, as long as you are aware of the above and make provision to not end up that way. Nice neighborhood. Close to nice places to eat, drink, have a good time. Take my advice, do not go to the Mad Greek. That was horrible food. But good news is that was the ONLY bad meal I had in Cleveland.
We are coming back to Cleveland three more times in the next year. Would I stay with Brooks? Yes, but I would lay out the particulars before I get there. I simply do not think that I and my friend should have been left with ONE of each of the above listed. For one: its unsanitary!

Dear airbnb: Michael Herbert was not a kind guest. He was not compatible with the the positive spirit and friendly environment that we try very hard to maintain. I believe that the scores of complimentary reviews from guests staying with us, before and after Mr Hebert, speak to our effectiveness as good and caring hosts.
He was disrespectful of our apartment, leaving it filthy and strewn with beer bottles and junk food wrappers.
Should he request to stay with us in the future, we would decline his request. Regretfully- Brooks Jones
We stayed recently for 11 nights at Brook's beautiful home while visiting Cleveland to drop our son at CWRU.The stay was delightful and Brook and family were wonderful and warm hosts who were always there to help out with anything and answer any questions. He gave us wonderful recommendations on places to eat and shop. The location was the icing on the cake as the home is near some very scenic nature walks and lakes and we fell in love with the nature around us.
I would highly recommend Brook's home to anyone visiting Cleveland as I am sure their experience will be as positive as ours.
Thank you Mika and Brook for having us in your home.
Wow- this apartment (and Brooks has several) was perfectly located and supplied for us. It is extremely clean, well decorated, supplied with everything we needed, and an excellent "home base". The building was lovely and the people in it too. It was in Cleveland Heights, and only took about ten minutes every day to get to the Cleveland Clinic. The neighborhood is safe, beautiful, and only two blocks to the Daves market, several coffee shops, a bookstore, etc. We stayed for three weeks, and never had a problem. Even the parking on the street was fine, and if we could not find a space Brooks had alternatives. Brooks is avail. by phone and text message immediately, and always kind and helpful. We will contact Brooks again when ever we need to be in Cleveland. Thank you so much!
When you're renting an apartment of Brooks' & Mika's your not only in for 'renting an apt.' you're in for the late dinners and the delicious cooking with Brooks' lovely music and meeting so many nice, friendly people from all over the world, and of course Brooks and Mika's kind hospitality that made the stay so great! The neighborhood was very quiet and perfect for morning jogs or bike rides, it's close to almost everything; nearby supermarkets and great restaurants just around the corner. My children and I had a wonderful time and wouldn't think twice about going back to Cleveland and stay at Brooks' & Mika's again.
Brooks and Mika are very gracious and accomodating hosts. We loved the neighborhood of tree-lined streets filled with older, charming homes. There are wonderful restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance of the house. We would definitely stay there again on any return trips to Cleveland. Thanks, Brooks and Mika, for a great stay!
Brooks was so accommodating even with my last minute request. The house was in a great location and perfect for a short business trip. It was clean, spacious and I had everything I needed. I was lucky to have found a place like this on such a short notice.

About the Host, Brooks
From our years as landlords, my wife, Mika and I have made our places home for hundreds of people; we love the friendships that we have created and we love taking care of people. We are very health oriented, we eat organically, we have a beautiful vegetable garden and we are very physically active; Mika is a yoga instructor, 2 kids are college athletes and 1 kid is a wilderness guide.
We feel that we have created wonderful spaces at our properties, and, influenced by what we were hearing from transplant families, we felt that we would like to provide healing, healthy and comfortable spaces, on a short term basis for anyone attracted to what we've created. We do this FULL TIME. Our guests include lots of Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital people, both patient families as well as md's, people between houses / jobs, film makers, travelling nurses, visitors, etc.
If we can't help you in time, we will refer to our comrades.
