Private room and bath with queen sized bed in historic 4 bedroom home built in 1940 and now fully renovated. Home is located in the arts district of Fondren in Jackson, Mississippi.
The home is a cozy "gingerbread" style home in the Fondren neighborhood of Jackson, close to shopping, dining and close to all interstates and suburbs of Jackson. The neighborhood is where the movie "The Help" was filmed. It's a very "small town" feel within a capital city. The room is downstairs and fully furnished with a very comfy queen sized bed, two windows with blinds, two lamps, ceiling fan, closet, mini fridge and chest of drawers stocked with towels and travel sized toiletries. We have basic cable TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime and AT&T uVerse WIFI internet that guests can enjoy.
Guests enjoy a private, furnished room and full hallway bathroom. Guests have full access to the kitchen and laundry facilities, as well as a large deck in the backyard. Free street parking is avaliable or one spot in our parking in front of the house.
Unlike a traditional b&b, we do not provide our guests with meals; however, the kitchen is available for guest use!
Interaction with Guests
My roommates and I enjoy guests who can entertain themselves, but we're available to hang out on the weekends when we're not working. We are also happy to provide suggestions on what to do and see around Jackson.
The neighborhood is fun and eccentric, full of little shops and nice restaurants and a thriving local music scene. It's 3 miles to downtown and is convenient to all parts of Jackson and surrounding areas. It's easy to zip anywhere in the city in 15 minutes or less.
There's JATRAN bus service but the service is a little spotty so bring your own car if you can. Sometimes we're available for convenient lifts to local spots; however, Uber is also available in the city. The neighborhood is pretty walkable for local food and bars. You can search online for "Find It In Fondren" for more info on the neighborhood.
Other Things to Note
We have 2 friendly cats but they are locked up at night so as not to disturb guests. Also, we host another room in our home on AirBnb.
Quiet hours are 10:30 pm to 6:30 AM. No smoking inside, but there's a deck out back you may use.
We ask guests to keep the doors locked at all times (even when home), and the cats are indoor only so please do not let them outside.
Valerie was the perfect host! We got into town before she got home from work so she gave us the key code to the front door so we could go ahead and let ourselves in. The house was SUPER cute and clean and the bed was really comfy. Unfortunately we only got to stay for one night but this was the perfect introduction to AirBnB! :) If you stay there and are looking for good BBQ- Go to Pig and Pint! Its right down the street and really delish!
Valerie greeted us and helped us get settled. The room was quite comfortable, bed was great. The house was well kept and the cats were quite friendly. The neighborhood was quiet. The only problem was the pot holes in Jackson...be careful on the roads. I would love to visit again.
Really lovely home, and comfy, cozy bedroom. The comforter and sheets were crisp and clean. Quiet and private. Much more beautiful than in the photo. Easy to find in Jackson and a very easy to use security code to get into the house. We used the dryer (it had been raining) and in the morning we easily made coffee in their gorgeous kitchen. We felt comfortable arriving quite late, communication was a breeze and when I lost my sunglasses they made sure to get them to me! Wow - great service.
Absolutely gorgeous home, one of the nicest we've been to since joining airbnb. Nice, quiet neighborhood. Adorable and friendly cats. Everything was very clean. We only met Valerie and was a complete delight! Would definitely stay here again and wish we could!
The "Jackson Charmer" not only describes the home and neighborhood, but the hosts as well. Greeted daily by the two friendly felines, the conversations with the hosts, and the amenities made me feel as if I was visiting with old friends.

Holly: I was born and raised in Mississippi, I own the home, and I'm currently commuting and working in New York. I'm a disaster recovery project manager and enjoy working on projects that make a difference.
While I'm away on business, my roommates Valerie and Kelsey have taken over hosting my home, Jackson Charmer, on AirBnB. Rest assured that they will show the same hospitality to guests that I do. We have all enjoyed showing off our little corner of the world and look forward to having you stay at our home!
