About this listing
Gorgeous bird-filled garden. Wind chimes. Yoga / exercise platform. Just the place to take deep breaths and meditate. Or to get a good rest before or after a hectic meeting.
Wireless Internet access is provided. There's hot water, private room and access to the kitchen (within reason). We can provide an evening meal for an extra cost. A collection of books, CDs, and DVDs can be made available, with permission from the house owner.
Interaction with Guests
The room is only available when we're home. House keys are available to make coming and going convenient.
For interaction, we leave it up to you; as much, or as little, as you like.
Good roads and paths for biking or walking. Proximity to Karura Forest. Run by the Forest Services, Karura is great for horse-riding, biking and walking.
If you have your own wheels, there's free parking space (for one car) provided. If not, and as we're off the bus route, transport is taxis or boda-boda (motorbike taxis). We have our own trustworthy contacts who can be relied upon to give a good rate.
Other Things to Note
There's a reasonably-sized shopping mall 3 kilometres away with a salon, general shopping, ATMs, banks, and bar/restaurant. In another direction (5 kms), there's a larger mall with coffee bars, casino, hypermarket, boutiques and gift shops.
Smoking outside is allowed. No pets. Guests should be considerate and clean, and switch off lights when not in use.
About the Host, Mumbi
Homeowner with two almost-grown children. Quiet and talkative in turns. Writer, theatre director, performer. Charming host and considerate guest. I read good fiction and non-fiction, enjoy hiking, dancing, knitting and I sometimes bake my own bread. I ALWAYS travel with a book by Alain de Botton.
Travel wish list includes Rio, Cuba, and pretty much any of the Caribbean Islands.
