Response from Helga:

Dear Magdalena,
Unfortunately we did not communicate enough and due to your changed arrival time we could not meet.
I'm sorry that your son fell off the stair. Nevertheless, there are grips and rails to hold on to as well as red and transparent non slip stripes on the steps. Stepping into the bed barefooted also helps.
Mosquito screens on the windows and doors would be technically impossible, but there are repellant candles for the garden and other anti mosquito products and lamps inside.
I did not perceive the odor you hunted nor did the next guest even after I asked him especially; but your pile of wet bath towels placed on wood or some food rests in the sink would be my suspects. I do hope that all my guests open windows or doors daily for circulation.
Cats roam freely in Paris. Being extremely allergic myself I don't let them enter, have mostly bamboo carpets and wash all tissues frequently. Water soluble paints, selected household cleaners and special beauty products brought my allergy level way down. Your "budget deal" even offered organic soap and shower gel from the pharmacy to avoid any skin irritation or sneezing ;-)
The atelier is tiny - for Californian standards. For Paris 14th and with the garden it's not bad. It's clearly no hotel room, no room service included.
Generally, to profit best of the place, guests should unpack things into the empty cupboards and drawers, store bags upstairs out of the way and live like you'd do on a sailing boat.

  • Le Zeyer, 234 Avenue du Maine

Very distinguished restaurant, sunny breakfast terrace, seafood
Av. du Maine Paris IdF 75014
  • Picard, 83 Rue d'Alésia

Its since some years now the most appreciated French company - frozen food in excellent quality, ready dishes for any taste or diet need or untreated ingredients without chemical add-ons.
    Rue d'Alésia Paris IdF 75014
  • 1 Villa d'Orléans

a corner with a vegetable and fruit market, a fish shop, two bakeries, a butcher, a cheese shop, an organic supermarket
    Villa d'Orléans Paris IDF 75014
  • Bar Restaurant Le Daudet, 16 Rue Alphonse Daudet

my favorite haunt, typical French bar, lively atmosphere, excellent kitchen, relatively low prices, English spoken.
Rue Alphonse Daudet Paris IdF 75014
  • Carrefour market

Big supermarket, open daily but Sunday till 9pm. access via the avenue General Leclerc and rue Friant, just some steps down the street.
Avenue du Général Leclerc Paris IDF 75014
  • Catacombes de Paris

An access to the Catacombes under Paris at 10 minutes walk. Probably a longer waiting line.
Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy Paris IDF 75014
  • Parc-de-Montsouris

Big park, close (for walkers) very close for joggers. If you cross it, you can go on to the park of the Cité Universitaire, where many nations have houses for their students, all in a huge park area.

  • Tour Montparnasse

Take a walk there, get up without a long wait, enjoy the great view - and take a picture of the roofs of Paris with the Eiffel tower in it. You may take a coffee break up there, not bad, normal prices
    Paris Île-de-France 75015
  • Cimetière du Montparnasse

15 minutes walk to go there, many tombs are like little houses, many richly decorated, famous people buried there. You may walk around for hours and discover them.

  • Le Jardin du Luxembourg

Beautiful park, a good walk or four bus stops away, go there on a Sunday and watch model boats on the small lake.
