A mere five minute walk to downtown Ubud, the 'Nest' is a well appointed Balinese-style Villa with a large pool perched on top of a hill surrounded by tropical gardens. The famous Juwuk Manis rice field trekking area is at the doorstep of the Villa. Sleeps up to six adults.
The Nest Ubud sleeps six comfortably. An ideal space for families. It has three bedrooms and spacious indoor and outdoor lounging areas. It also has a large swimming pool. The kitchen is generously appointed and equipped for home cooking and entertaining. There is a pool villa adjoining the pool, which sleeps two and has an ensuite bathroom. There is also an upstairs bedroom in the main house with a half bathtoom. The downstairs bathroon in the main house is accessible through the kitchen and/or second bedroom. It is a full bathroom with big tub and outdoor Balinese-style shower. The villa is nestled up on a hill and is extremely private. Great views of the surrounding jungle especially while chilling in the pool. Perfect for families or a group of friends. Parking is also available on site.
The villa facilities are fully accessible to renters. No restrictions.
Interaction with Guests
Our family lives in Vientiane, Laos so guest interaction with us is limited. However, we have a staff on hand that will look after your needs during your stay at the Nest Ubud. And my father in law Mr. Karsana keeps a watchful eye to ensure guest satisfaction during their stay at the Nest.
Ubud is the cultural heart of Bali and and Jalan
Kajeng can be considered the heart of Ubud.
Known as “Artist Street’ or ‘Signature Street’, Jalan Kajeng Street is one of the most interesting and original Balinese streets you will find. Located on the north end of town, it runs uphill perpendicular from Jl. Raya Ubud. For people wishing to explore downtown Ubud on foot and at the same time live on a relatively quiet local street, you found it! The Pura Desa (village temple) is located at the bottom of the street and at the top end of the street is the amazing textile gallery ‘Threads of Life’. There are many places to eat on Jl. Kajeng as well as art shops and the Padma Bus office. Rice field treks are also at the doorstep of the Villa.
Everything that you possibly want to see is walking distance from the Villa. Downtown Ubud and the local Starbucks is 5 minutes walk in one direction. And in the other direction, within 5 minutes one can be on the well known (and very beautiful) Juwuk Manis rice field area. Quite literally, you never have to get in a car when you stay at the Nest, except maybe to go grocery shopping.
Other Things to Note
This one of the most well appointed villas in the neighbourhood just five minutes walk to downtown (Starbucks and the Ubud Palace). Baby crib and high chair available on request.
Treat the Nest as if it were you own. Conserve energy when you can. Recycle, reuse and reduce to ensure a sustainable household operation. Most importantly relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this special place.
We had a wonderful 5 days at the Nest. Everything was perfect, including the location. Would definitely recommend the Nest.
The villa in Ubud was in a great location (a short walk to the market and restaurants) and certainly was very beautiful. Lovely gardens, coy fish and plenty of lush greenery, even a friendly neighbourhood cat which we loved. The downside: the villa and especially the pool villa had several large (over one foot long) lizards/geckos which made us nervous. We understand we are in a natural setting and small gekos are of no bother. However these ones were peeking their heads on the ceiling above where we slept and they left droppings on our bed and floor. We felt so uncomfortable we slept on the sofa which was not comfortable for 2 people. The solution would be a bed canopy to make you feel more secure. Peter (who we never met) sent in someone to remove one lizard but unfortunately there were more (which we mentioned but nothing was done). Also we only received one gate key which was inconvenient for a group of 6 - we would have liked to split up. Overall a very beautiful villa but the experience was dampened by the lizard situation.
The stay is great in the villa. It is as beautiful and amazing as in the picture. It is truly spacious both inside and outside. We felt cool and calm immediately when we entered the house. Everything you need can be found in the villa (the owner is very considerate) and every information is available in the manual. The location is very convenient with many good restaurants in walk distance. We rented a car and the parking is just good for it. The host is very friendly and willing to help. Peter is always very responsive for any questions. You do not feel at all any worry or unsettled-ness. We had a tight schedule so we only came back to villa in the night, but we wish we have had spent more time just living in it. We have a group of three generations and all of us love this place!
Wonderful and charming home with a pool house and pool. There is great attention to detail in the garden its really beautiful plenty of places to meditate and read. We loved our stay thanks peter!
We really enjoyed our stay at the nest and the host was very helpful.
It's in a very convenient location, just a short walk to the centre of Ubud.
It was very clean and we had someone who cleaned every other day to help us.
The house had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay and the internet worked well.
The view from the main bedroom window is beautiful to wake up to.
My daughter loved feeding the fish and calling after the skinny cat.
The outside shower is brilliant, very invigorating and the water is very hot.
We don't really use air con but it worked well when we needed it.
The only downsides were it was up a steep set of stairs which was really hard getting our buggy and all our luggage up and down.
The pool was wonderful, brilliant size, but getting a little murky. It left my hair feeling great so maybe it didn't yet have any chemicals in.
I think the welcome book could have had a bit more information in about where the supermarkets or fresh markets are. Also a reliable drive or taxi service would be great to include. If it was possible to include a local mobile with a bit of credit (our place in Sanur did) to book taxis with that would be even better!! But if you don't have a baby they are easy to get off the street from the center of ubud.
It isn't a beautifully built house but unless you're travelling with an architect you won't be bothered by that. A characterful place.
The only downside to our stay at ‘The Nest’ was that it wasn’t long enough! This little slice of paradise at the end of a cobbled laneway off Ubud’s main street is is both proximate and private. The house is nestled atop an unassuming entrance (we drove past it twice) with a winding, moss-covered stairway leading to a traditionally styled Balinese villa set amidst beautifully landscaped tropical gardens. I echo the sentiments of others who’ve stayed here and said that the pictures do not do this home justice. This is a home in harmony with its surrounds…absolutely stunning! I was very tempted to forgo all of my planned activities in Ubud in favour of bunking down and taking it all in (alas, 3 teenaged children had their own agenda) but in the all too short time spent at The Nest, we were comfortably accommodated, had all the mod cons at our disposal and were completely charmed by the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful home.
The house manual was a helpful introduction to both the house and neighbourhood and I cannot say more for the welcome and hospitality we were shown by the family patriarch Mr. Karsana. We are already dreaming of a return trip! A wonderful stay and highly recommended.
We enjoyed this lovely villa very much. The owner responded quickly to all our inquiries. The location close to Ubud is central, but still in a lush and garden like environment. An easy place for both tourism and relaxation. Unfortunately our visit was very short, but we had time to do the rice field walk close by. We liked it, and recommend it warmly.
