Interaction with Guests
We are a Swiss-Colombian couple, living nearby. My wife and I will be happy to give you tipps and advice on Medellin. We can show you around our favorite parts of town, suggest restaurants, nightlife spots, day-trips, help you organize transport, put you in touch with private Spanish and Salsa teachers, etc.
El Poblado is the most up-scale neighborhood in Medellin. Most foreigners live in this part of town which boasts the best nightlife, restaurants, shopping malls and most corporate offices in town. El Poblado can also be considered the safest part of Medellin. The apartment is a 5 minute walk from the so-called 'Golden Mile' where most hotels, malls etc. are located. The nightlife/restaurant hot spot called 'Parque Lleras' is also within walking distance (far enough not to be kept awake at night) or a 5min taxi ride (US$2.00). Not withstanding its very central location, the apartment is located in a dead-end street which makes for a quiet surrounding complete with lush vegetation on all sides.
For people without their own transport, taxis are a convenient and inexpensive way to get around Medellin. The guards at the reception (24/7) can call a taxi for you any time of the day/night. A short walk can also bring you to the bus station with connections to the metro system. For people with a car, the apartment includes a parking lot. From the airport a taxi will get you to the apartment in around 40 minutes for approx. US$35.
Other Things to Note
This apartment has it all: the views over our beautiful city, modern furniture in open spaces, quiet and yet central location in the fanciest part of town. Welcome to Medellin.
To respect our neighbors, please refrain from causing undue noise after 10pm. No pets, no smoking, no drugs, no prostitutes in the apartment at any time.
Daniel's amazing apartment was better than expected. The pictures do not do it justice. It's also much bigger than the pictures show. It's in El Poblado's Milla de Oro, which is the most up scale neighborhood in Medellin. The apt is perfectly located about 5 blocks up from Avenida del Poblado and close to Oviedo, which has great shops with grocery stores, restaurants, money exchange, hair salons, El Corral (the best burger joint in Colombia), etc. Very conveniently located apt in an extremely safe neighborhood. We were pleasantly welcomed with fruits and water. We stayed 9 nights and did not want to leave. His apt is clean, it comes with all the things you may need during your stay. Showers are great, better then our showers in NY. We did not need to rent a car as most things are within walking distance. Parque Lleras is just a short cab ride and only cost about $2 USD. Daniel was very accommodating and always made sure things were going well during our stay. My only suggestion is to tell taxi drivers that you are staying "en la loma de Alejandria", that's what they call the street where the apt is located. Taxi drivers know it by that name more than by calle 3 sur. There's a hard rock cafe close by with great food and amazing strawberry mojitos. There's also a gem of an Italian restaurant hidden in La Strada mall (3rd floor) called Dante. Not a great wine-by-the-cup selection, but good mix drinks, great chicken parm and delicious pizza. If you're in the mood for more traditional Colombian food, you can't go wrong with the Hacienda (same mall, 2nd floor). The chorizo appetizer was to die for. And the mandarin fresh juice was amazing too. We also got to meet a couple of the neighbors, everyone is very friendly and welcoming. His next door neighbor is very nice and speaks English well. The doormen are also very welcoming. Overall our experience was great. Love Colombia and can't wait to go back. Would definitely recommend Daniel's place to anyone visiting, you will not regret it. Muchas gracias, Daniel!
The apartment was even more spacious than in the photos and had million dollar view to the city. There was everything we needed for our stay for a week. The apartment is location is great. 5 min walk to El Pablado and 10-15 min to Lleras Park. Daniel is a perfect host. He provided us with the information about Medellin and even invited to the local event.
Can't decide where to stay? The apartment is certainly the best choice.
We spent a perfect time at the apartment. The apartment is great. Very well located. The view is spectacular. We saw Aras flying by. All places can be reached easily. Apartment and area are very safe. The safety guards are very helpful and friendly. And last but not least Daniel is a great host. Very friendly and helpful at all times. The apartment is very recommendable. We would book it again immediately. Thanks Daniel for the great time we had.
This is a terrific place for a business traveller. This was my second stay, both for a month.
The landlord, apartment and location are fabulous. Daniel is attentive and great as a landlord, everything is perfect and he is extremely helpful.
The apartment is near new, very breezy, ample, comfortable and well located. It is a five block walk downhill to the best Poblado has to offer.
I particularly liked the super fast internet, the quietness of the building and area, and the view.
This is a fabulous place with a great landlord.
Daniel's place was a welcome home from home. The views are as amazing as the pictures show, daytime is also gorgeous. The building is clean in a safe neighbourhood. The security guys downstairs were highly courteous and called taxis (which take 5-10 minutes), though they don't speak any English.
The mall and gym were just 7 or so minutes walk, with a good supermarket and many restaurants. I prepared most of my meals in Daniel's kitchen. Perhaps due to the newness of the place, some items hadn't yet been provided. Daniel was open to my feedback, so I'm confident that Daniel will more fully equip his kitchen. Daniel's cleaning lady clearly takes great pride in her work, everything was spotless and smelled fresh. There is no AC, but there was a standalone fan in my bedroom.
Poblado is the best neighbourhood for locals to reside in Medellin. A short and affordable ($2.70) taxi ride away you'll find restaurants and bars around Lleras Park. Carmen restaurant was my favourite, ask for a seat outside. I'd be glad to stay at Daniel's again, though I've not yet met Daniel.
This place was amazing. Beautiful living room, kitchen, and balcony with incredible views of Medellin. In fact the view was so nice it made it hard to leave and take time to explore the city! It's a nice location near Parque Lleras and Rio Sur, so it's good for a weekend vacation. It's also extremely comfortable (great TV, wifi, bedrooms, bathrooms, located on quiet street) so it would also be great for a longer stay if you are here on business for example. The price tag is a bit higher than other airbnb apartments, but if you're willing to splurge, then this is the place to be.
The host, Daniel, was also great. He was incredibly responsive, went out of his way to welcome us and give us recommendations, and was in constant contact making sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves in Medellin. I would definitely stay here again.

I'm a Swiss entrepreneur living in Medellin and loving it since 2010. Before finding my new home and falling in love with my wife in Colombia I lived in the Philippines, China, UAE, Cote d'Ivoire, Chad and Liberia. That's why meeting people from different parts of the world and walks of life still fascinates me as much as when I left to explore the world the first time. And this is why it'll be a pleasure for both of us to personally meet you, make you feel at home in Medellin and share our love for this city with you.
