The newly redesigned and upgraded bathroom, shower & laundry room are accessed through a doorway for your private use. (We sometimes share the laundry, accessed by an outer locked door for your privacy.) Our travertine stone patio winds around the pool and opens out through a gated lawn-banked seasonal creek. All outdoor area is available to you during your stay. Our friendly, family golden retriever "Sadie" may want to play with you, but just close the blinds. She'll get the hint.

The SLOStudioLoft is easily accessed through the redwood gate on the right side of the residence driveway. Our guests enjoy the private sun-warmed pool & slide in the summer (May-September), and also love sunbathing on the secluded patio lounge furniture throughout the year. The gated and fenced seasonal creek-side lawn area is a safe place for your non-barking dog to roam if you choose to bring along your pup. Laundry facilities available for a small fee; please be conscious of our SLO water shortage and California drought. We are available to make your stay as comfortable as possible; please let us know in advance if you have any special needs or requests.

Our quiet neighborhood is on a cul-de-sac, therefore minimal car traffic is rarely heard. In the mornings you can hear the birds singing in the trees surrounding the property. Our neighbors are out walking their pets at all hours, and there is never a concern for safety. This is an exceptionally quiet, secluded, upscale residential neighborhood including young families with children, as well as older, retired couples who built their own homes 30+ years ago.
We're near Southwood Drive and Johnson Avenue. Uber came to town recently and our guests love the local safe and friendly drivers for quick trips downtown for dinner or "bar-hopping."
Our local city bus transit is a 4 minute walk 3 blocks to the corner #1 Bus Stop- SLO City Transit, which takes you to the Downtown City Center, approximately a 10 minute bus-ride. Bus transfers are available to the Amtrak Station, all over SLO, Cal Poly, and San Luis Obispo County, including Hearst Castle if desired. SLO Airport is a 7 minute Cab/Uber ride.

Beaches, hiking trails, biking trails, downtown boutique shopping, concerts in the plaza, wine-tasting, music festivals, film festivals, jazz festivals, and much more are only minutes away! Our rates are lower in the winter, and as the summer sun warms our new pool & slide we hope you'll enjoy using it during your stay! So come and swim in front of your secluded StudioLoft during the warm summer months. We will provide simple instructions on removing the Solar Blanket before swimming. Have fun, but please, keep your pets out of the pool for their safety. And remember- NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY, unless of course you are one!
We do NOT allow smokers inside our home, and greatly appreciate your compliance with this request (only on grassy area, NOT patio). General courtesy is the "unwritten rule," as is pretty much true for anytime our lives impact others. Our neighbors welcome our Airbnb international and USA guests, as you are respectful of their privacy and property, and honor the rules and safety requirements stated in the SLOStudioLoft Property Agreement.
We would love to meet your pup, if you decide to bring her along with you, but please keep pets off of the furniture. *There is a one-time $25 cleaning fee for pets. When booking, please include your pet as an extra guest as well ($15/night) or pay upon arrival to avoid additional taxable Airbnb fees (honor system; we trust you).
Ryan and Family
We had a great time! We felt like we were staying at a second home. The pool was a perfect way to relax between obligations to our family in the area. We will defiantly us this place again when visiting SLO.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the SLOstudioLoft. We stayed for a girls weekend and it cozily fit all six of us and all of our stuff! It was great that we could all be together instead of split in two hotel rooms. The loft had everything we needed and more, including soft towels, comfy beds, a great stereo, and a fully stocked kitchenette with a fridge full of drinks and snacks for our stay. Carla even brought us yummy coffee cake one morning. The property is in a great location with easy access to the airport and wineries as well as downtown.
Many thanks to Carla for a wonderful weekend in SLO!!
It is a very cozy place but may be a little crowded for three adults - a couple with 1-2 young kids may fit better. The place is conveniently located and well maintained. Carla made delicious cakes for us. However, it may be a little uncomfortable for someone who has high requirements for privacy because the host live right next door and can come into the room through bathroom. Carla can even hear me showering and reminded me to keep shower time within 5-7 mins per SLO water conservation law. I have no problem with water saving, but the experience was kind of creepy. Also the washer charges $4 per cycle for quick wash which is pricey. Other than that everything is fine.
Thank you Joyce for your thoughtful comments! I am very conscientious of lengthy showers for everyone in our family longer than 5-10 minutes, and feel it very necessary to remind guests of the need to watch water conservation if their use is excessive (as yours was 25 + minutes). My daughter reminded me that when she traveled in South America she would do her laundry while she showered, and since you did NOT use the washer, (nor leave any money), but you DID use the dryer (which is free), we thought you probably just washed your clothes while you showered (although you said there were two of you in the shower). We apologize you felt cramped with your parents in the StudioLoft; we were hoping after the Special USC Graduation present Offer we provided for you ($65 discount) your holiday stay would have been idyllic. Please come back again and we will offer you a free night to make up for any inconvenience! Carla
The accommodations were great exactly as advertised. There was a lot of attention to detail and my wife enjoyed having everything that she needed in the kitchen. Everything in San Luis Obisbo was within 10 minutes and Pismo Beach was a 20 minute drive. My two yr old and 10 month old really enjoyed the toys. I would highly recommend this to a small family. I would definitely stay here again. This was our first Airbnb experience and now we are hooked!!!
The accommodation was fantastic. The neighborhood is safe and parking is ample. Upon arrival we were greeted by their wonderful golden retriever. The loft was spacious and clean. The kitchenette was stocked with glasses, water, orange juice, beer, and everything else you'd need. They even had an ipod play list with Beatles music playing upon entry; an excellent touch. I've used air bnb many times but this was the first time for my mom, dad,and puppy. They all had an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this place. Ryan and Carla made the process effortless and enjoyable.
Ryan, Carla and family were super-helpful, friendly and thoughtful hosts. Their place is amazing and had a lot of great extras like delicious breakfast foods. The location is solid, just minutes from the downtown area. The pool was beautiful and the studio is almost completely separate and self-contained, other than the bathroom, which is still quite private. Would highly recommend.
About the Host, Ryan (And Family)
I am a recent Cinematography Grad of SFSU and plan on traveling throughout the US and possibly Europe, utilizing Airbnb when possible, while developing my film career. Our permanent address is SLO where my sister and I were born and grew up. My mom lives in our family home with our Golden, Sadie, and cat, and she enjoys traveling abroad. We offer our guest "Studio Loft," which was designed as a private studio apartment with kitchen and bathroom, and includes all the amenities you'll need to assure your visit to SLO is a memorable one. Hopefully, you too will discover why San Luis Obispo is called the "Happiest Place in America."
We've put together a list of our favorite things to do for all ages and abilities, from "the Best Wineries for locally grown Cabernet, Pinot, Zins, and Chardonnay," to various hiking trails, beaches, state parks, places and events you'll want to see, and our favorite restaurants, bars, music, and much more. All of the information you might need is available to you on the iMac (including a nice selection of music on iTunes). Upon your arrival, we invite you to enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine or a few beers, and in the morning you'll start your day with breakfast provided for you in the fridge, including delicious SLO brewed coffee. If my mom's around, she'll make sure your stay is great. So if I miss you when you come to town, enjoy yourselves and "We'll leave the light on for you."
