The Space

We provide a light breakfast (including homemade coffee cake) and you can "french press" freshly ground SLO-roasted coffee in the morning to start your day off right! Our private Studio Loft has been recently renovated providing you, our guest, all the amenities you may need to enjoy an intimate dining experience, both indoors, and on the natural stone Patio by the pool. Studio is equipped with a kitchenette, a bar, dining area, computer, and beautiful piano. The kitchenette (see photos) includes a 2-burner gas stove, mini fridge, large toaster oven, and a microwave, as well as dishes & glassware, silverware, pots and pans, bowls, and cooking utensils. Our outdoor grill is available for pool-side summer-time, or any-time BBQ's. The newly redesigned and upgraded bathroom, shower, and laundry room are privately available for your use during your visit. Our travertine stone patio winds around and opens out through a gated lawn-banked seasonal creek.

Guest Access

The Studio-Loft is easily accessed through a redwood gate on the right side of the private residence driveway, along a well-lit pathway to your separate entrance facing the pool (see photos). Our guests enjoy the private sun-warmed pool in the summer (June-September), as well as enjoy sunbathing on the patio lounge furniture. The gated and fenced creek-side lawn area is a safe place for your non-barking dog to roam. Laundry facilities available if absolutely needed- please be conscious of our SLO water shortage and California drought. We are available to make your stay as comfortable as possible, please, let us know in advance if you have any special requests.

Interaction with Guests

We respect that you may desire privacy during your stay, and therefore will provide you with a "pre-visit" email list of "what-to-do" and "where-to-go" in SLO so that you can plan your activities and make reservations accordingly. When you arrive you'll find a "Concierge" booklet describing some of our favorite Bars, Restaurants, Wineries, and Galleries as a resource for your convenience during your stay, including brochures to review, along with a section for your comments for future Airbnb guests!

The Neighborhood

Our quiet neighborhood is on a cul-de-sac, therefore minimal car traffic is rarely heard. In the springtime you can hear the baby birds singing in the trees surrounding the property. Our neighbors are out walking their pets at all hours, and there is never a concern for safety. This is an exceptionally quiet, secluded, upscale residential neighborhood including young families with children, as well as older, retired couples who built there own homes 30+ years ago and have loved living here ever since. We were fortunate to have been one of those families who became the 2nd owner of a newly built home in the 1980's.

Getting around

Our local city bus transit is a 3 minute walk to the corner #3 Bus Stop- SLO City Transit, which takes you to the Downtown City Center, approximately a 10 minute bus-ride, where transfers are available by bus to the Amtrak Station, all over SLO, Cal Poly, and San Luis Obispo County, including Hearst Castle if desired. SLO Airport is a 7 minute Cab Ride. Transportation available online:
San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority
Amtrak Coast Starlight (Seattle-LA)

Pacific Coast Surfliner San Luis Obispo - Santa Barbara - Los Angeles - San Diego

Other Things to Note

We have recently spent a lot of love-filled energy and time remodeling and renovating our home to improve the comfort and beauty we have come to enjoy. And now we hope you will come visit and relax here in SLO for a day or more so that you too can appreciate some of the beauty that surrounds us here on the Central Coast: Beaches, hiking trails, biking trails, downtown boutique shopping, wine-tasting, music festivals, film festivals, and so much more! Our rates are generally lower in the winter and spring, and as the summer sun warms our new pool, we hope you'll enjoy using it during your stay! So please enjoy swimming privately in front of your own secluded Studio Loft June through September. We will provide simple instructions on removing the Solar Blanket before swimming. Have fun, but please, keep your pets out of the pool, for their safety. And remember- NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY, unless, of course you are one!

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • My wife and I throughly enjoyed our 4-night stay at the studio. Ryan was actually out of town so his mom, Carla, was our host and she was amazing! Carla was very welcoming, personable and easy to communicate with. It honestly felt like we were staying with family. :)

The studio is nicely remodeled, super clean and cozy. We loved the food, drinks and treats provided. It made mornings very relaxing since we didnt have to get ready and leave to eat right away.

To get the most out of your time in SLO be sure to walk around downtown and experience as many bars, breweries, restaurants and cafes as possible. I swear everywhere we went was full of unique, "home grown" character. Also be sure to take the short drive to a couple of the beach cities. We dug Pismo and Avila. Great restaurants, people watching and pier walks.

    Response from Ryan:

Chris and Sabrina- please, come back anytime-- discounted hugely of course, and drift off to slumberland with the NEW Memory Foam "Topper" for both beds! Thanks for your kind comments and helpful suggestions!

  • Ryan and Carla were such kind and respectful hosts. Carla made the place cozy and had a delicious cake waiting for us. When I informed her that I wasn't comfortable climbing a ladder to get in and out of the bed, she took time to make the downstairs couch into a cozy bed for us. The neighborhood is just lovely and the studio has very nice amenities. It's quiet and private, which is exactly what we were looking for. Also, it's an easy and fairly short drive to downtown San Luis Obispo. Thank you for everything, Ryan and Carla! Hopefully we will be back soon!

  • This was a great place to stay while in San Luis Obispo. Very clean and cozy. The hosts ensured and respected our privacy, but still provided a nice welcome, with a bottle of wine on the table and some milk and OJ in the fridge. We loved the big couch too (great for watching movies in the evening)! I would strongly recommend this place, and would definitely stay here when/if I'm in SLO again!

    Response from Ryan:

Thanks Ashley- we'd love to have you back- and we'll give you a special ofer next time!

  • This is a cute studio in attached to the back of a home in a neighborhood in SLO. Three of us stayed comfortably -- two on the downstairs in a huge couch/bed and one on a full bed in the upstairs loft area. The studio had a stove, toaster oven, microwave and all the utensils we needed for basic cooking (breakfast in the morning, heating up mini pizzas for dinner). The refrigerator was stocked with breakfast food and the hosts provided light snacks and freshly baked breads (so delicious!). They even left us with a bottle of wine to enjoy during our stay. The host sent an email with things to do in the area a couple weeks before our departure to help with planning details of the weekend and once we arrived, there was a handy binder with maps and a list of things to do in the area, which was helpful to reference while we were there.

There is also a pool and chairs to lay out/ hang out outside that we didn't use since we had other plans, but if we return, we would use them.

We loved it and would stay there again the next time we are in the SLO area!

Thank you, Carla and Ryan =)

  • Our host was very accommodating and the studio felt bigger than in the pictures due to the very high ceilings. Ryan was out of town so his mother, Carla, was our host and she is just a doll. She left us fresh fruit, coffee cake, and other food stuff which was very much appreciated.

  • Stayed for two nights. This is a great space, highly recommend it. The studio is incredibly clean and spacious. The amenities (small kitchen area with toaster over, microwave, dishes, mini-fridge) were perfect for making breakfast and snacks. Bed and couch were comfy, bathroom immaculate. Ryan&Carla were prompt and gracious hosts. Nothing negative to say, if we're back in the area, we'll stay here again.

I am a recent Cinematography Grad of SFSU and plan on traveling throughout the US and possibly Europe, utilizing Abnb when possible while developing my film career. My permanent address is SLO where my sister and I were born and grew up. My mom lives in our family home with our dog and cat, and she enjoys traveling abroad. We offer our guest "loft," which was designed as a private studio apartment and includes all the amenities you'll need to assure your visit to SLO town is a memorable one. Hopefully you too will discover why San Luis Obispo is called the "Happiest Place on Earth." We've put together a list of our favorite things to do for all ages and abilities, from "the Best Wineries for locally grown Cabernet, Pinot, Zins, and Chardonnay," to various hiking trails, places and events you'll want to see, our favorite restaurants, bars, music, and much more. All of the information you might need is available to you on the iMac (including a nice selection of music on iTunes, which you're welcome to download). Upon your arrival, we invite you to enjoy a complimentary bottle of local Central Coast chardonnay, and in the morning we'll start your day with a light breakfast including delicious SLO brewed coffee or espresso! If my mom's around, she'll make sure your stay is perfect. So if I miss you when you come to town, enjoy yourselves and "We'll leave the light on for you."
