We really enjoyed our stay in Rory's apparment! We were greatly received by Rory with a lot of useful information about Dublin, the appartment contained everything you need to recover from all the highlights Dublin has to offer!
The short story: This was my first time on Airbnb; Rory was a great host that made visiting Dublin an easy ride. He was always quick to respond to emails and calls, and had helpful suggestions for things to do throughout our stay. He even organised a taxi from the flat back to the airport with a friend of his, which cost about €10 less than a normal cab!
Location: The location of Rory's apartment is perfect; It's about 500m from the river, and you can see the Four Courts from the balcony. Dublin itself is very walkable, so even getting to Harcourt Street (near the southern peripheral road) took less than half an hour from the flat.
Apartment: The apartment itself is spacious (especially the living room area), and everything is functioning (electric shower with hot water, heating, washing machine, tumble dryer, kettle, toaster, fridge). Rory had also been kind enough to leave plenty of towels, and breakfast essentials (corn flakes, tea bags, bread, milk) which was hugely appreciated.
I visited with three others, but the apartment could have comfortably accommodated six (two in each double bed).
I'd definitely recommend staying at Rory's place, I definitely would if I were to travel to Dublin again!
A great week-end in Dublin ! We spend 2 nights in Rory's apartment and we were 5 (2 couples). Rorys' apartment is nearest the o'connell street (10-15 minutes by walk) and the area is not noisy.
Rory reserved us a warm welcome, he gave us a lots of advices for our visits in Dublin and above all goods places to have diner and lunch. We recommend "Oasis" for the lunch, "the black sheep" for diner.
Rory was available online to answer me.
Just one negative point but it's all the same in dublin, there is water pression restriction between 7pm to 8am (but Rory has an electric shower).
We recommend Rory’s apartment, it was a great souvenir in Dublin for us.
Thanks Rory! We were very pleased with the apartment and it's location. And you personally were of such help, giving good tips on places to visit and such. Much appreciated! :)
Just perfect place for a wonderful WE , with a tipical Irish host.
We stayed at Rory's place for 4 nights. There were two couples. It's very central. The space itself is nicer than the building would lead one to believe. Rory is very helpful with sites to visit, places to eat.
We esp. recommend Oasis Cafe, just down the street. Wonderful, reason food. Also, it's BYO booze.
I went to Rory's with my parents and sister and this opinion summarizes the combination of feelings that we all had. Rory is really very attentive and helpful. We thank him for his availability and useful recommendations. We had a great time in Dublin. The house is good placed, in a residential area very close to the centre. The beds are comfortable and I don't have major concerns about it. We have to take into account that this is not a hotel, so it's normal that a Spanish mother's standards in terms of "cleanness are not fulfilled. I have to recognise that the house may need a deep round of cleaning, as the sofas, chairs, walls and kitchen have, let's say, suffered a bit, maybe after the "use" of some careless guests (en español yo diría que el apartamento tiene "solera"). But beds, towels, bathroom and "important stuff" were clean. So, in general, our experience in Rory's was positive.
Rory is an incredibly gracious and responsive host. The apartment was convenient to many locations, and had many "little extras" / amenities... bread / cereal / tea etc... for breakfast. He accomodated our need for an early check-in as well as leaving our bags until a little later in the day, and answers all emails incredibly quickly. It was our first airbnb experience, and an excellent one.
We had a wonderful time in Dublin. Rory is an outstanding host : always there to help with useful advice ( about things to do, places to visit - his "lessons" on Irish history were concise and impressive) and a very pleasant sense of humour. The flat is really well situated and quite cosy. We highly recommend staying with Rory, our new friend in Dublin!
Rory is an amazing host with a fabulously located apartment in Dublin. He was incredibly attentive, gave absolutely great recommendations on everything from food to music to tourist attractions off the beaten path. Awesome.
