New Orleans apartment

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Belleville St, New Orleans, LA 70114, United States

The Space

Our upstairs apartment is located in the historic Algiers Point neighborhood on New Orleans' Westbank. We are 10 blocks (a 10 minute walk) from the ferry that takes you right to the foot of Canal Street in downtown New Orleans - from there its a short walk to the French Quarter.
The ferry is $2 per person and runs
7:15am - 6:45pm M-Th;
7:15am - 8:15pm on Friday and
10am-6pm on Sat and Sunday.

Apartment includes 3 bedrooms, 1 bath, dining room and kitchenette with full sized refrigerator, stove and washer and dryer. There are three bedrooms and two of the bedrooms lead out to the 2nd floor balcony.

For most times of the year, we will rent just one room of the apartment, if that's all you need, but for Jazzfest, Mardi Gras and Essence Festival, we only rent the entire apartment for $300 per night.

The area surrounding my apartment has a lot to offer. For food check out Tout De Suite Cafe and Dry Dock Cafe & Bar, both great places to grab a coffee. For a beer, there are tons of great bars in the area including The Crown and Anchor English Pub and Old Point Bar.

  • I was fortunate enough to stay in this unit while in New Orleans for WrestleMania Weekend in April. Since it was my first time using the Airbnb service, I had no clue what to expect. I cannot express how pleased I was with the entire experience. Gina, our host, was very professional. She communicated the process of checking in and out very thoroughly, leaving no questions unanswered.

When we first arrived, we were greeted by our host and she gave us a tour of the apartment. The unit itself was very clean and comfortable. Gina was prepared with maps to the nearest shops, markets and places of interest. I was impressed with the attention to detail given to us by our host. The kitchen was very clean and the refrigerator was stocked with amenities.

The bedrooms were spacious, with sturdy beds that were extremely comfortable. Being a large man (6'5", 250 lbs), I find that all beds aren't made equal. Luckily for me, I was able to sleep like a baby in the room I was in. My brother chose the room next to mine and he was pleased that he wasn't forced to listen to me snoring all through the night.

The neighborhood that this apartment is located in was relatively quiet during our stay. We had a rental car and could basically get to most places in between 10 to 30 minutes. We valued the fact that we weren't right in the heart of the French Quarter, but still close enough to enjoy all of the fun and excitement since we were relatively close to Bourbon Street.

It may seem strange but our trip seemed more like a stress free retreat than your typical vacation. The amount of space and the individual bedrooms rooms gave my brother and I enough room to feel independent during our stay. The amenities provided (Satellite TV, Wi-Fi and Snacks) made us feel right at home.

I would definitely recommend booking this apartment if it is available. I am a complete skeptic when it comes to trying new things. I have absolutely zero regrets on booking this unit from Gina on Airbnb. The entire process was a pleasant experience. When I plan my next trip to New Orleans, it will be based on the availability of this place. It's like a home away from home. (Yes, that last line was pretty corny, but true.)

  • Gina and JoAnn were simply AMAZING. We had such a great stay and a wonderful Spring Break! The house was extremely clean and I felt it was in a safe neighborhood. They left snacks and beer for us which was a very nice touch and definitely helped when we were rushing out the door for ghost and swamp tours and wanted a snack for the road! Gina and JoAnn were always quick to respond to our texts and would give us everything that we needed to have a wonderful stay.

The location is very good for the price! It is a $2 ferry ride over to the French Quarter and a $20 cab ride. Just keep in mind that the ferry stops working at 7:45pm on the weekend!

Overall, wonderful stay and I would definitely stay with them again!

  • The house was wonderful as were Gina and her sister!! It was really nice to be out of the thick of it, yet just a quick ferry ride across to the French Quarter. The house itself was clean and a nice space to relax. The big balcony was fabulous. We will certainly stay here again!!

  • This was the perfect home base for exploring NOLA. Too many people spend all their time in the French Quarter, or take the ferry without truly wandering the historic streets of Algiers.

Our hosts left some much appreciated snacks (we rolled in after a red-eye flight) and kindly recommended a great breakfast place nearby (Tout de Suite Cafe). We loved sitting on the lovely balcony and trying different walking routes to the ferry to see the incredible architecture and character throughout the neighborhood.

The only "complaint" we could possibly have is the shower "trickles", but it was certainly sufficient!

  • this was a great place to stay: clean, bug free, and relatively close to where you'll need to go. The flat is old and charming, stacked with everything you need to be self sufficient. I did not meet Gina, but her sister, JoAnn, was very hospitable and took me around to see the neighborhood. I highly recommend staying here.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting both Gina & her sister Jo Ann-- both were so kind and very attentive to make sure our stay was perfect. Algiers Point is a really beautiful neighborhood and being able to walk to the ferry and then walk to the Quarter is fantastic. The photos of the apartment don't do it justice-- beautifully finished hardwood floors, wide open rooms full of natural light in the morning. The bed was super comfortable as well, much appreciated after a long day of sight-seeing! And Gina left us plenty of clean towels as well as a kitchen stocked with drinks. This was my first AirBnB experience and I must say it couldn't have gone any better. Highly recommend, would gladly stay there again.

  • This is a lovely apartment in a very nice neighborhood, just a few blocks away from the ferry to Canal Street. I met Gina's sisters and mother and they were all very friendly and hospitable. They stocked the apartment with snacks, milk, plenty of clean towels, and even beer!

New Orleans is a wonderful city, and if you're planning a visit then I would highly recommend this apartment. I'll definitely try to stay here again next time I go back.

  • I recently stayed in this great apartment in New Orleans. At first it was a little tricky to find but I contacted my host via text and found it. The apartment is very cozy. A lot more cozy than a hotel. The apartment was set up with everything we needed for our stay. Its great to have a washer and dryer too! The beds were cozy and we had the a/c to keep us cool. I rented a car for the week I stayed but honestly I did not need to. The walk to the ferry is about 10 mins. and the walk is quite pleasant. It was a nice to change to have people acknowledge you and say hi as you walk down the street. The ferry is FREE and it takes you right to Canal St. from there, there is plenty of transportation or just walk. I'm pretty savvy with local transportation. I live in SF so I got to know the local transportation services really quickly. Taxis can be expensive. Airport to this apartment can be well over 40.00 one way but you can catch the E2 at the airport into the city for 2.00 than take a bus/cab/walk to the ferry landing and cross the Mississippi river than stop at a local bar(ask bartender to call cab for you) and catch a cab or walk. I loved my stay away from the chaos of the French Quarter. Our host were great! Gina brought us some danishes on our last night. Thanks!!!
