This is a comfortable, two-bedroom home at the top of the bluff, with stunning views west across Useless Bay and the Puget Sound to the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula. At the foot of our path down the bluff, you'll find our beach-front cabin, a magical spot on Maxwelton Beach. Useless Bay is so shallow that at low tide you can walk for miles along the tidal flats.

The space
The property has two homes on it. One of the owners lives full-time in the small cottage on the way up the drive, to the east of where you will be staying. Tidecrest itself is at the top of the drive, looks west across the water towards the Olympic Peninsula, and is very private.

With flannel sheets and down comforters, the beds are cozy year-round. In addition to the central heating, the gas fireplace brings warmth on chilly mornings and evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped, and you'll find basics like salt and pepper, oil and vinegar, coffee and tea. There are lots of games, books, and puzzles for you to use. There is no broadcast or cable television, but you can play DVDs or log into your own streaming services on our Blu-Ray player.

Guest access
You will have access to the whole house except for the owner's personal office space, which has a separate entrance at the private, screened, north end of the deck. The office is not sound-proofed, but the owner generally tries to limit virtual meetings to weekday business hours and to otherwise keep a low-volume profile.

You will have direct access to Maxwelton Beach, where there is more wildlife than human life, and to the beach-front cabin with its hammocks and deck-chairs.

Other things to note
Pets are welcome only by prior arrangement with the owners.

I grew up as global nomad as a child, living in Europe, Africa, Asia, and North and South America by the time I was 20 years old. Although I am now very happy to be settled in one place and to make my home on the prairies of western Canada, we also love Whidbey Island. It's a pleasure to have a home there and to be able to share it with you.
