Although we lead very busy lives living in the city; I always found it cool when we could talk with our guests, especially if they were interested in learning about Atlanta since I am eager to learn about other places!
Harry's communication made this first time airbnb experience easy and comfortable. The room was great and in the condition seen in the photos, the room also contains a small mini fridge, TV and great 2 sink master bathroom. The neighborhood was fine, the house is the first on the block and in a working professionals neighborhood. Harry left great notes in the house and room with recommendations and maps for your stay in Atlanta. I followed a couple of recommendations and had a wonderful time with the locals! Harry checked on me upon getting there and addressed any additional items needed or concerns. He also followed up without be bothersome. The house is so cute, I actually only saw one other guest during my 4 days there, but I basically only slept there! This was my first time using airbnb and I know this is the way I will go for my future travels.
I had some issues.
1) Not really in downtown, so keep that in mind. It's about an $8-$10 Uber/Lyft ride to downtown.
2) Dirty, dead bugs & bad smells. – I had to request that my room be cleaned after I arrived. I saw large dead roaches in another part of the house, and spiderwebs in the corners of my room, plus dirt/debris and a smell that made me sneeze in the closet in my room. I didn't use the closet as a result of the sneezing, and hung my clothes from the shower rod. Harry did respond quickly when I explained my displeasure with the dirt and bugs. Nevertheless, why charge someone to stay and not ensure a clean, welcoming environment beforehand?
3) At 6:30am on my second morning, a Saturday, I was taking a shower. Someone ran the dishwasher and the shower lost water pressure. Not a good thing, but at least I was awake and not trying to sleep as the dishwasher ran in the kitchen adjacent to my room. Why do that? Why not wait until later in the day to run the dishwasher?
Good people, but the space was not prepared adequately.
We apologize that you did not enjoy your experience in our home as it did not meet your expectations. We make it a goal of ours to provide all of our guests with a fun time and a great impression of this city we call home. I can assure you that we vigorously clean and try to provide the most seamless check-in process for all of our guests in order to make them feel a sense of home and belonging. Based on previous guest feedback, almost all guests have enjoyed their time with us although the age of the home may be uncomfortable to many. Thank you also for bringing up the issue of bugs in the utility closet. Our handyman Bob has cleaned them up and assures that they have been dead for over a year and shouldn't expect any in the living areas. He hasn't mentioned smelling anything in the closet however. I also was unable to smell anything either but maybe it went away after cleaning. As far as water pressure goes, the showers shouldn't lose much pressure unless the dishwasher AND laundry machine are running at once. This may have been the case but I will add a rule limiting laundry or dishwasher to certain times of day. On the matter of being downtown, I believe it is one of the major benefits. We are the closest residential neighborhood to the Capital Building, CIty Hall, and the downtown hotel district. When I went to GSU (which is the only Downtown University) I walked to class all the time. I'm not sure why your Ubers were so costly. It may have been due to surge pricing. I hope your next stay in Atlanta or with airbnb goes much better! Once again, I am saddened that you did not enjoy your time, however please know your feedback will make our incoming guests' experience much better.
Harry was very efficient and accommodating. The master bed and bath were spacious. It was in a good location, though there were ants in the kitchen and the coffee pot was moldy. Overall, it was reasonable for the price and location, but not ideal if you want to cook.
Staying at Harry's was an awesome experience! He made us feel welcome and did everything to make sure that my family and I were comfortable. We will definitely stay here again! Great location, awesome host!
Harry and Jade have prepared an amazing room for their guests here. I and my brother stayed here and were both surprised to find a bedroom and bathroom far nicer than either of of could ever think to ask for. Surrounding area is also very nice, with a slew of cool places to go out for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or to even just grab a drink. The MARTA can be picked up just a 15 minute walk away from the place as well, so you don't need to worry about the Atlanta traffic during much of your visit. I would absolutely stay here again!
