Come here for quiet, star gazing, restorative beauty. Come here to do creative work -- writing, painting. Come here for quiet conversations and savoring our natural world. Come to hike in mountains and desert and investigate ancestral puebloan ruins and enjoy arts and culture of this diverse area of northern New Mexico.

The space
Murphy wall bed (11 inch gel -foam mattress). If this regular double bed fits your style, the casita can accommodate two adults. See photos for kitchen appliances. not in photos are pots and pan, cleaning supplies. The views are glorious, and there are places for sitting and cooking, on charcoal, outside.
See breathtaking views through new designer windows or by sitting outside on one (or all) of three open portals (porch/patio). North: Ghost Ranch and Abiquiu Lake [charcoal broiler on this side]. East flagstone patio shows northern views and toward Jemez Mts and Santa Fe (my house is on this side).[Outdoor eating table and chairs are here]. South: Cerro Pedernal, Polvedara, and nearby mesas (great winter sun). Movable chairs for your preference.
Dining, working table: Drop-leaf table extends to 65 inches (35.5 inches wide). This is also the table work space; an additional card table can be provided on request)
Only friendly dogs are welcome. (prefer non-allergic). Dakota my seven-year old standard poodle is great with dogs, not with cats.

Guest access
My home is nearby, and I'm available by text or phone if you have questions. The studio casita is self-contained (I have locked storage in one small side of the building) Interesting hikes off the mesa top as you stay on common drives.

Other things to note
Best to do groceries at Trader Joes or La Montanita in Santa Fe. Misc. items can be found at Bodes and Family Dollar. Washer/drier in casita. ER in Espanola; local clinic has limited drop in services.
Elevation of casita is about 6500 feet. Pedernal is just under ten thousand feet. Dry, sunny climate. sunscreen recommended. Must drink lots of water if your from lower elevations until you acclimate. Within less than an hour's drive you can visit Ghost Ranch, the Benedictine Monastery Christ in the Desert and the Islamic mosque and educational center Dar el Islam nestled near Plaza Blanca, a unique hiking location. Various local churches and other worshiping groups welcome visitors.
