Our eco-friendly lodge is in a pristine mountain setting on 38 acres in Hope Valley, California, one of the most gorgeous natural landscapes in the Sierras. In the winter, we'll bring you to the lodge over the snow in a snowcat! From the lodge you can hike, kayak, fish, bikeride, snowshoe, ski, snowmobile or admire fall colors of the aspens. The space
One of four available bedrooms, ALPENGLOW ROOM is a spacious room that will offer you a spectacular view of Stevens Peak from your plush queen sleigh bed. This private room is tastefully decorated with a sitting chair and hand made floor lamp. The private room also has a full closet and a large bathroom right next door (with double sinks, tub/shower combination and toilet) that is shared with one other guest room.

Our private family-run mountain lodge is eco-friendly, as we generate our power from the sun with battery storage, and heat our water from the sun. All the rooms in our off-grid solar powered rustic lodge/log home are bright and cheery with lots of windows.

We can introduce you to amazing alpine lakes and streams and trails nearby for kayaking, fishing, paddle-boarding, hiking or biking. Start the day with a home cooked breakfast each morning before you venture out to enjoy your day’s activities. Our goal is for you to feel refreshed and rejuvenated after your stay here in our mountain lodge.

In the winter there is a groomed road/trail for cross country skiing, snowmobiling, showshoing or walking. Or make fresh tracks through our snowy meadows! The lodge is located near South Lake Tahoe and is between two epic ski resorts: 12 miles to Kirkwood Mountain Resort, 23 miles to Heavenly Mountain Resort at South Lake Tahoe.

Our lodge is a perfect romantic escape for the adventurous, and we look forward to welcoming you to our lodge, and making your stay an unforgettable, unique and authentic experience.

Guest access
In addition to your private room, you also have access to light use of the kitchen (microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee makers, utensils, sink), dining room, great room, deck and 38 acres of meadow and forest to roam on. The large high-ceiling great room on the main floor (with massive granite fireplace and mountain views) is an inviting room where you can snuggle up by the fire in the winter, or socialize with other guests. Our large deck is a popular place for guests to drink their morning coffee, watch the sunset over the mountain, or stargaze. We often make a campfire in the cowboy cauldron on our deck during the non-winter months especially on weekends.

During your stay
We love to interact with our guests, but can give you your space too. It just depends on what you want! We are available to help you understand the area and offer suggestions on what you can see or do, and we can tell you what restaurants we recommend too.

Other things to note
Hope Valley is known for being one of the hidden gems of the Sierras.
Note that there are stairs at the house.
Ask about bringing your kids along!
Great getaway for a couple or multiple couples, or families, as there are 4 private rooms that are individually rented, or 2 room and 5 room combination listings.

Our lodge is on 38 acres with beautiful open meadows and wooded areas with aspens and pines and a small stream from a mountain spring and wildlife. There are a few neighboring parcels, but our parcel is surrounded on three sides by public land. While it has a private, secluded feel, the lodge has very close access to main roads (Highway 88) and is near South Lake Tahoe (20 minutes away). Many guests that stay here enjoy doing a combination of sightseeing at Lake Tahoe, and visiting some of the quieter pristine mountain lakes and trails that we will tell you about!

I like to spend time with my guests
My husband and I both grew up in the Bay Area, but have both been super active and love the outdoors. So after we graduated from college, we found tech jobs that enabled us to live our dream in the mountains and raise our 3 children in a super healthy wholesome environment along with our two friendly Bernese Mountain Dogs, Bear and Cub. We have always loved having company and have been hosting large ski get-togethers for our kids with their friends and various parents for over 10 years. Now that our last kid has moved away from home, we thought it would be fun to host other adventurous and outdoor-loving people as our guests in our lodge/log home in Hope Valley where we have 4 bedrooms for you to choose from! Since this is still our full time home in every season, we are here to add a personal touch to your stay and create a welcoming, homey and interactive environment for all our guests. Our goal is to make your stay in our lodge extra special and memorable. Having lived in this area for over 30 years, we can give you recommendations from a local's perspective, tailored to your particular interests. As experienced hosts, it is very rewarding for us to share our home and mountain living with so many wonderful guests! If you are looking for an authentic experience, not just a ‘place to stay’, this is it for sure!
