About this listing

Welcome to Dolphin Bay Cabanas.

Our small eco-conscious waterfront resort has just three gorgeous en-suite cabanas. With great views across the bay, you can watch the dolphins play while relaxing on your own private deck or on either of the two over the water relaxation ranchos.

Extra people: No Charge

The space

The Cabanas accommodate a maximum of two people. The guests sleep on a king-sized bed protected by mosquito nets.
Every cabana has a private bathroom, front porch with chairs, storage space and a ventilator.
Our eco-conscious resort runs off solar power and water is collected in our rainwater catchment system, so you'll be drinking the freshest water, free of charge.
We have a chocolate Lab Mira and an American Cocker Spaniel Jasper - they are both super friendly and welcoming.

Guest access

-We offer rich, home-made meals 3 times per day. Beakfasts (8 USD/person), lunches (8 USD/person) and dinners (15 USD/person) are available on demand.
-There are also 3 local restaurants in the area which we can take you to at a small fee for fuel.
-Our guests have access to all the facilities on DBC grounds and other public areas on the island.
-We have two over-water ranchos with hammocks and a common area/restaurant.
-All the accomodation facilities have Wi-Fi access.
-There is a range of sailing boats which you are welcome to rent during your stay.
-We also have a cayak, a locally hand-made cayuco and basic snorkeling equipment which you can use free of charge.
-We are happy to arrange tours for you such as dolphin watching, botanical gardens, chocolate farm, and any of the local islands.

Interaction with guests

There is always someone around here to help you. We also like sharing a meal with our guests while enjoying a glass of wine and talking about life :-)

The neighborhood

Behind our resort, there is an incredible 3km walk through the rain forest where you are likely to encounter sloths, howler monkeys and a wide range of birdlife.
This is a true nature lover’s paradise.

Getting around

The island doesn't have roads so the only way to get around is by foot or by boat.

Other things to note

We encourage you to bring a repellent - it's the tropics after all; and a flashlight which comes in handy after sundown. There is a good app called "Flashlight".

Beautiful location, remote, clean, good food. Host seemed very stressed. At one point he was heard by all the guests yelling in the middle of the day, he punched something and broke his hand. He ran out of purified water to drink and didn't feed his dogs which really bothered me. Arrange your own transfers from Dolphin Bay back to the main island if you have a flight to catch.

The place is magic! Located in a very quiet bay between jungle and the sea. If you're seeking for some peace and quietness, this could be the place!

Exceeded expectations. We had a very relaxing stay at Dolphin Bay. Our host Jelle was prompt to communicate with us, and was very welcoming. The grounds were safe, clean and comfortable, and the food was worth every dollar. Hosts were very helpful in arranging transportation and activities. Would recommend bringing shampoo and hand soap as these were not provided in the larger cabaña, but there were plenty of clean towels, and the bedding was comfortable. Great location for swimming right off the deck. Sandy beaches were only a boat ride away, and we enjoyed the free use of snorkeling equipment and body boards.

The location is amazing, as well as the rooms and the living/kitchen area. You can have fun with all the Jelle's equipments (kayak, sailboat, mask and snorkel..) enjoing the sea and the mangroves all around. Breakfast and dinner are deliciuous, the atmosphere is friendly. Fully recommended.

The Dolphin Bay Cabanas are a great place to calm down and enjoy the nature. The small little houses are clean an cosy and one feels really close to the nature. Diana and Jelle are wonderful hosts and the dinner together with them and the other guests were familiar. I would definetly recommend to stay there when you are going to Bocas del Toro!

The location is awesome and you are really in the middle of a lagoon with dolphins swimming there. The cabana is very clean and the food you can eat here is absolutely delicious but do not forget you are in the middle of nature so make sure you set the right expectations. People we met during our stay were really lovely and all of them made our staying even nicer. Highly recommended. Tip: We drove from the mainland until Almirante and the landscape was breath-taking.
