Jan and Ken were wonderful hosts! We arrived at paradise! I was traveling with family on a southwest road trip- we were looking forward to having a quiet and cozy place to recharge... We found it at Jan and Ken's! Beautiful location right on the Sonoran desert preserve, about a 45 quick and beautiful drive to Phoenix. Cave Creek is close by and oh so charming, and don't forget Scottsdale, great town and close by, too! The casita was my favorite part of our road trip, I hope to return and spend more time, thanks Jan and Ken!
We had a wonderful time and were sad we had to leave a day early. Jan was a great host and the property exceeded expectations - what a great backyard! The kids are already asking if we can return next year. Thanks again!
Five stars aren't enough. We had a wonderful experience that exceeded all expectations. Our hosts respected our privacy, while at the same time could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The Casita was very comfortable, spotless, and decorated beautifully. The outdoor living space was very special. Excellent hiking was minutes away, and the only sounds you will hear at night are from wildlife. The city is accessible, but you are in beautiful countryside here. We will be back.
A lovely escape to the peace of the desert. The warm welcome from hosts Jan and Ken, and the well appointed casita, make you wish you could stay for longer than you planned. Next time hopefully!
We had a lovely stay at Jan's. Although the casita is just a few steps from the main house, we felt like we had a lot of privacy. The casita has a patio facing the main house's patio, but it also has a little back patio that's completely private. The little touches (breakfast items in the fridge, a bathrobe, extra blankets, etc.) were great! As far as the location, if you like hiking and just hanging out, the place is perfect. It's a little bit of a drive to restaurants and other activities, but we didn't mind it. Overall, a very positive experience!
The location was rural and the home was equipped with all modern conveniences with a kitchen that included breakfast food for while we were there. The setting is at the back of the hosts' lot as a guest house that butted up to their pool, had an outdoor living area and a table right outside the casita to enjoy breakfast as the sun rose on the horizon.
For our trip, we needed to be in that far NE Quadrant of the Metro Phoenix area and it proved to be a great selection for a place to stay. It's near mountain parks for hiking, surrounded by equestrian centers, and some golf courses. If this casita was available, I would take this over a hotel room any day.
