Interaction with Guests
We leave our guests to their own devices, as they have their own section of the house. But of course we are available in case of any questions.
The room itself it pretty much soundproof to the rest of the house so guests won't be interrupted by any comings and goings and vice-versa.
We live in historic Georgian Dublin. The house itself was built in the 1800's and still maintains many original features, with a modern twist.
The area is really charming just outside the city center. Just across the street there is a deli, Starbucks, convenience store, restaurants and traditional Irish pubs! There are also local parks and a canal with a nice walk on our street.
It's the perfect location for transport, walking or cycling. Direct bus routes to and from Airport (25 mins each way), City Center and Trinity (15 mins walking). We are walking distance from Grand Canal Dock and all major transport routes in Dublin - you can really get anywhere!
We also have a Dublin Bikes rental stop on our street - you can rent a bike and drop it off anywhere in the city. Really handy and good way to see the city.
Other Things to Note
A small and very friendly dog named Jasper lives in the house. He is quiet and behaved and will not go into your space at all.
We're easy going and guests are left to their own devices, and your space is just for you. Of course if you have any questions about the area or things to do we are more than happy to help!
We didn't meet Ben,but his mother who was welcoming. The description was accurate and the neighbourhood was excellent. Across the road there were two good restaurants (we eat in the Farm Restaurant), a grocer shop, and a great traditional Irish pub. best of all the bus to the airport was only 3 minutes away long the road, leaving every 15 minutes. It was good for buses. A short walk to the canal where we found a great cafe for lunch and only 20 minuts walk into town and Trinity College, Temple Bar and the river. The noise from the various pumps in the kitchen and shower and toilet were a bit loud. Fortunately we are not very tall, but if you are 6ft you would find it difficult to stand upright in the shower. There were no lock on the door to the private suite. Very bright for a basement room. We were very happy with our stay which made our first visit to Dublin very enjoyable.
We arrived there very late due to a plane cancellation. We were unable to get ahold of Ben because he was out of the country but eventually Sally heard us and answered the door. She was a gracious and helpful lady.
The flat was very nice and we had the whole floor to ourselves. Everything we needed was there and even a few snacks, toast, sweets, tea, coffe... it was a very nice place to stay at and the bed was really comfortable. It was a good area, too, it just took us 15 minutes to walk to the city centre.
Great experience at Ben's place. Clean room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, nice kitchenette. Sally was there to greet us and give us the keys. It was lovely and private, great to have own space. Only a ten minute walk into town. Ben and Sally were helpful at all times and easily contactable when needed. Extra great bits: plentiful guidebooks in the room, yummy snacks in the kitchen, and being allowed to leave our bags after checkout until convenient for airport.
Our stay was great. We liked the quiet location. It was wonderful to have the breakfast supplies provided. The shower is very small but we had read that in other reviews so were prepared to work with it. Our host was very flexible and let us drop our bags of very early after our flight arrived at 5:30 am! My only request would be to make clear if the upstairs living area was OK for us to use. It is pictured in the listing, but is clearly separated from the sleeping unit. If we get back to Dublin I would book again.
We had a great time in Dublin, the apartment was a really good proximity to the city centre and Sally was super friendly and made our stay very comfortable!
This was a good place to stay: good location, comfortable, private. Host was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early.
