Located just 5 minutes' walk from the City Centre, this comfortable room has a private bathroom, kitchen and a whole floor to yourself! On direct bus routes to Dublin airport and walking distance from Trinity College, Grafton Street and City Center.
The room is spacious and quiet and you will have the whole floor to yourself with a private bathroom and a kitchenette with your own fridge, microwave oven, kettle and toaster (we provide tea, coffee and snacks). The room is also freshly painted and the bed is brand new.
The room has a TV with an Apple TV with Netflix and a stereo speaker for music if you're staying in.
Single air mattress is available too - just ask!
The basement floor is very self-contained and should have everything you need! In the room you have access to your own private bathroom and shower. You have a small kitchen with fridge and microwave. There is also a large wardrobe in the room and your own TV with Netflix.
You have a desk with outlets for your use and good WiFi. Access is through the main house but the room, bathroom and kitchen are private to you.
Interaction with Guests
We leave our guests to their own devices, as they have their own section of the house. But of course we are available in case of any questions.
The room itself it pretty much soundproof to the rest of the house so guests won't be interrupted by any comings and goings and vice-versa.
We live in historic Georgian Dublin. The house itself was built in the 1800's and still maintains many original features, with a modern twist.
The area is really charming just outside the city center. Just across the street there is a deli, Starbucks, convenience store, restaurants and traditional Irish pubs! There are also local parks and a canal with a nice walk on our street.
It's the perfect location for transport, walking or cycling. Direct bus routes to and from Airport (25 mins each way), City Center and Trinity (15 mins walking). We are walking distance from Grand Canal Dock and all major transport routes in Dublin - you can really get anywhere!
We also have a Dublin Bikes rental stop on our street - you can rent a bike and drop it off anywhere in the city. Really handy and good way to see the city.
Other Things to Note
A small and very friendly dog named Jasper lives in the house. He is quiet and behaved and will not go into your space at all.
We're easy going and guests are left to their own devices, and your space is just for you. Of course if you have any questions about the area or things to do we are more than happy to help!
Great little basement apartment. Was in a great location being an easy 20min stroll to the city centre. Everything we needed was there including fresh bead and milk for a cuppa. Would defiantly recommend this to anyone.
The second time I've stayed here, this time on my own and on business. All was great once again - very happy to stay here. Communication with Ben pre and post trip has always been excellent.
Great place! 15 minute walk to the town side of St Stephens green. Clean, comfortable; warm and cosy but not at all small or cramped. Host provided bread, jam and other essentials. Great value for money.
On arrival my partner and I were greeted by Ben's mum who was very friendly and showed us to our room. There were some positive and negatives to our stay.
In terms of negatives, the room did not feel particularly well prepared for our stay. It was slightly unclean - particularly in terms of dust and it felt slightly more shabby than the pictures showed. Small things like the rug wasn't laid out properly (pushed up against the wall) and there were some random bed sheets out. There also were not any hangers for clothes or much space to fold clothes so we lived out of our suitcases for the duration of our stay.
The bathroom was unclean with some grime around the toilet and sink area and hadn't been properly prepared for example there was someone else's hair clip on the floor. The toilet also wasn't fixed to the ground and there was a very loud extractor pump which went off when using the utilities. The shower was small (if you are over 6ft you wont be able to stand straight) however we were aware of this from reading other reviews so this wasn't a big issue.
In terms of positives, the apple TV was good and there were nice amenities in the kitchen including milk, cereal, bread etc. The bed was extremely comfortable which was great. The shower had a decent power and it was hot. In terms of location, it was lovely and felt safe. There were also local amenities (shops, restaurants etc.) and it was easy to walk to the city centre.
We were also given completed privacy during our stay which was appreciated and on request of some small items (dish cloth, champagne glasses, sugar) Ben's mum was more than happy to accommodate us. Finally we were able to check in early as there were no guests there when we arrived - we were very thankful for this as we had a very early flight and needed some rest!
Overall it was a nice stay in Dublin, however the accommodation didn't quite live up to the impression the pictures gave, which was disappointing.
I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay here, but thank you for the feedback. I was also surprised as we have had many guests stay with us who have all been very happy but I will be sure to take your comments into account to ensure a positive experience for all future guests.
The photos were taken by AirBnb's photographer recently so they should be representative of the room itself.
I do apologise that you found it dusty. We have a professional cleaner who cleans the room and kitchen regularly and we will ensure that extra care is taken in future to ensure the cleanliness is of a high standard.
Thank you for bringing up the question of hangers. We have had many guests and no one mentioned it but I will be happy to provide more hangers and ensure there is free wardrobe space in future.
Thanks again for taking the time to leave the feedback. I wish you all the best and hope you enjoyed your time in Dublin.
Yes, His mother was there to greet me. She had juice & milk and soda bread for me , which was very nice.
The location is perfect for a tour of Dublin. The room is comfortable but is in the basement, so secluded. The shower is small and the extractor can be noisy. The kitchenette is well stocked. I was very much left to me own devices which suited me.
Great stay at Ben's! The room is cozy and comfortable and complete with bathroom and kitchenette. Also, the neighborhood is fantastic with a lot of cute restaurants and pubs - not quite in downtown, but close enough to the main sites. We were greeted by Ben's flatmate when we arrived and had no problem connecting with Ben when needed over the phone and email.
