Single air mattress is available too - just ask!
The basement floor is very self-contained and should have everything you need! In the room you have access to your own private bathroom and shower. You have a small kitchen with fridge and microwave. There is also a large wardrobe in the room and your own TV with Netflix.
You have a desk with outlets for your use and good WiFi. Access is through the main house but the room, bathroom and kitchen are private to you.
Interaction with Guests
We leave our guests to their own devices, as they have their own section of the house. But of course we are available in case of any questions.
The room itself it pretty much soundproof to the rest of the house so guests won't be interrupted by any comings and goings and vice-versa.
We live in historic Georgian Dublin. The house itself was built in the 1800's and still maintains many original features, with a modern twist.
The area is really charming just outside the city center. Just across the street there is a deli, Starbucks, convenience store, restaurants and traditional Irish pubs! There are also local parks and a canal with a nice walk on our street.
It's the perfect location for transport, walking or cycling. Direct bus routes to and from Airport (25 mins each way), City Center and Trinity (15 mins walking). We are walking distance from Grand Canal Dock and all major transport routes in Dublin - you can really get anywhere!
We also have a Dublin Bikes rental stop on our street - you can rent a bike and drop it off anywhere in the city. Really handy and good way to see the city.
Other Things to Note
A small and very friendly dog named Jasper lives in the house. He is quiet and behaved and will not go into your space at all.
We're easy going and guests are left to their own devices, and your space is just for you. Of course if you have any questions about the area or things to do we are more than happy to help!
We loved our four-day stay! We were welcomed warmly by Sally, and any questions or concerns we had were addressed promptly and positively. The neighborhood where this house is located is just outside the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close enough for a very quick walk into it. All the amenities you need are within one or two minutes walking distance--a convenience store, pubs, restaurants, buses (both the Dublin Bus, and the AirCoach bus). We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Ben's mother welcomed us to the apartment and she was very nice and helped us get settled. The location is great, only a 15 minute walk into the main part of the city and it has a bus if you don't want to walk. There is also a direct bus to and from the airport right outside the apartment, which was very convenient for us.
The apartment was comfortable and fairly clean. The bathroom might need a bit of work as others have mentioned but it wasn't a major issue. The shower will be hard for you if you are tall but fortunately you can detach the faucet if you need to.
The WiFi was outstanding. Throughout our travels, I've found many AirBnB's, B&B's and hotels have very bad WiFi, but Ben's WiFi is excellent. This was much appreciated by heavy internet users like us. The Netflix and AppleTV provided was also a nice touch.
Overall staying here was great!
We stayed at Ben's place for two nights and it was fantastic! The room is as it appears in the photos, the wifi is good and we really appreciated the efforts made to make us feel welcome and provide breakfast food, coffee etc. As others have mentioned, there is an extractor pump that runs when using the bathroom and is a bit noisy but this is just one of the quirks of staying in an older house. The area is beautiful and there are small shops right across the road and the city centre is a 15 minute walk away. We really enjoyed our short stay- thanks for having us!
Overall impression: Good - we were nicely welcomed by the housekeeper, the room was clean and practically furnished, just like the little kitchenette and the bathroom. I guess if I'd have to find something negative, it would only be that sleeping with an open window was quite loud, as there is a street just in front of the window.
Getting there & parking: Navigation system lead us perfectly to the appartment and we could park our rental car directly in front of the house.
Location: Good - we could walk into the centre through the park in about 20 minutes. Just a few minutes from the appartment was a supermarket (SPAR) and some meters further a Starbucks for emergency breakfast :-) In addition to that, several bus stops were located nearby.
All in all, the appartment was good and a good starting point for discovering Dublin.
The room is comfy and quite close to a lot of cool places to see. However, the bathroom is a nightmare. I may sound too spoiled, but the water pump for bathroom and shower is BEYOND loud. I mean, it's a bit ridiculous, and constant. Also, did not get a drop of hot water...
Ben's mum made us feel very welcome on arrival, giving us advice on lacal places to eat, and directions for sightseeing. she was very quick to respond to any issues that arose . The room was as depicted, bright and clean and comfortable. The neighbourhood was very safe and quiet, and only 15 minutes from St Stephens Green and the inner city of Dublin, perfect for our short stay.
