The room is spacious and quiet and you will have the whole floor to yourself with a private bathroom and a kitchenette with your own fridge, microwave oven, kettle and toaster (we provide tea, coffee and snacks). The room is also freshly painted and the bed is brand new.
The room has a TV with an Apple TV with Netflix and a stereo speaker for music if you're staying in.
Single air mattress is available too - just ask!
The basement floor is very self-contained and should have everything you need! In the room you have access to your own private bathroom and shower. You have a small kitchen with fridge and microwave. There is also a large wardrobe in the room and your own TV with Netflix.
You have a desk with outlets for your use and good WiFi. Access is through the main house but the room, bathroom and kitchen are private to you.
Interaction with Guests
We leave our guests to their own devices, as they have their own section of the house. But of course we are available in case of any questions.
The room itself it pretty much soundproof to the rest of the house so guests won't be interrupted by any comings and goings and vice-versa.
We live in historic Georgian Dublin. The house itself was built in the 1800's and still maintains many original features, with a modern twist.
The area is really charming just outside the city center. Just across the street there is a deli, Starbucks, convenience store, restaurants and traditional Irish pubs! There are also local parks and a canal with a nice walk on our street.
It's the perfect location for transport, walking or cycling. Direct bus routes to and from Airport (25 mins each way), City Center and Trinity (15 mins walking). We are walking distance from Grand Canal Dock and all major transport routes in Dublin - you can really get anywhere!
We also have a Dublin Bikes rental stop on our street - you can rent a bike and drop it off anywhere in the city. Really handy and good way to see the city.
Other Things to Note
A small and very friendly dog named Jasper lives in the house. He is quiet and behaved and will not go into your space at all.
We're easy going and guests are left to their own devices, and your space is just for you. Of course if you have any questions about the area or things to do we are more than happy to help!
Had a nice stay! It was easy to get to from the airport. The Aircoach takes you directly to a bus stop across the street from Ben's place. We missed our first flight (thanks to no notification from Expedia :/) and ended up arriving two hours later than originally expected. Ben and his mom Sally were very accommodating and Sally welcomed us upon arrival. The wifi was great to have (our last place only had limited access.) Downside was that it was farther from the city center than anticipated and farther than we were hoping. It really is an easy walk to the center but be prepared, it's a ways! On the walk though, there are pubs, cafes, a grocery store etc so if you need anything close, it's there! Overall a good stay.
Ben was a great host! He was in touch with us prior to arrival and readily available once we were there. The accommodation itself was excellent and in an extremely convenient location. We appreciated the entire experience and look forward to staying at Ben’s place the next time we visit Dublin!
We had a great stay at Ben's place. A well-equipped basement apartment in a lovely Georgian townhouse. The milk, bread and snacks were much appreciated. It was a big room with a comfy bed, everything was nice and clean, the Apple TV was also a great addition. It's only about a 15 minute walk from St Stephen's Green and the bus to the city centre runs reguarly from just outside. Would definitely stay here again when we next visit Dublin.
We never met Ben but his mom let us in and was very helpful. The flat in a perfect location for getting around Dublin and the room was spacious and private with a comfortable bed . Ben left some snacks in our mini kitchen. There were a few downsides having to do with the bathroom. The toilet was not connected to the floor properly. Every time you used any water in the bathroom, an extractor pump went off which was quite noisy . The warm water in the shower didn't last very long and the ceiling was so low that if you were taller than 5' 9", it would not be very comfortable. The bathroom was not as clean as it could have been. Overall, we had a good stay in Dublin but there were some things that could be improved upon.
Bens place was great and was perfect for our trip. Great location and comfortable set up. Thanks for the hospitality!
The rooms were just as described. Ben and his mother graciously agreed to our booking even though we would not be arriving until midnight. They had left coffee and some things to get us started in the morning (milk, cereal, biscuits, etc) which really makes life on the road so much easier.
